Snow day

And do what? Can’t really teach without kids there.

I had my whole week prepped, calendar changed over, classroom clean and ready to go. A waste for 2 days since a lot of it was review materials and now we jump back into benchmark when we return. And re shuffle the rest of the subjects.

Don't defend yourself with this miserable troll.

They suck and are the worst when your kids are little. But the years go quick and you will love them when your kids hit middle and HS and you don’t need daycare anymore and they can get themselves to the bus stop. You will wish every day was a delay when middle school hits.

+1, snow days are tough when your kids are little, but they happen practically every winter. Its just a few more years.

Why do people have kids if they don't enjoy when they are around?

This is such a tired argument. We all love our children. We also want them to be educated and attend school. Do you homeschool, and not work? If the answer is no to either of those, why don’t YOU enjoy having your kids around?

Very offended I see

2 day closure for sure. Have any of you been out? I did a 1.5 mile walk in my neighborhood. Sidewalks have 6+ inches on them and nothing is going to melt with a high of 27. It doesn’t matter if you think the layer band will be negligible, this amount of snow isn’t going to be cleared enough for school tomorrow.

I have. It's a crazy amount of snow for this part of the country. (I've lived other snowier states and I've been here 6 years and have seen nothing like this.) On the other hand, I've seen them shut everything down for a light dusting of snow in the afternoon.

If you've been here for 6 years than you have seen something like this. You don't sound trustworthy.

When in the last 6 years was their snow like this? Are you a contrarian bot?

What? When in the last 6 years have we had 5-6 inches of snow? I was living in Maryland last winter (between Baltimore and DC) and we had at least one 6 inches snow storm in mid January

FFX did not have a lot of snow last year.

I would plan for closure and at least a delay Wednesday.Reid likes to try to be a hero but honestly for this area there are many moving parts and safety she and her team have to consider. I know this will make parents rabid at the the thought but it's a reality and a safety concern.

Ok, fair. Storm must have had a weird path. We were about 30min north of Fairfax and judging by my pictures there was over 6 inches and kids were off school a good 2-3 days

We had snow 1/16/24 and 1/19/24. Both storms were in the 4” range. I have pictures. We no snow the winter of ‘23.

It is till snowing. No school tomorrow. Wednesday could go either no go or 2 hour delay.

I'm aware but it was much warmer and my point is this is worse and we will not be at school tomorrow. Last year really wasn't much and melted quick.....this is much different-enjoy the snow days

I would love to agree with you but no way. Not with 8+ inches of snow.

Best case scenario is a two hour delay on Wednesday.

Nobody has 8 inches yet. We’ll see if it materializes. They were wrong on the overnight amounts.

We have 8 inches in Centreville. I hate snow so ugh.

Yup 8 inches and still snowing

Go walk around your neighborhood and realize how wrong that idea is. It’s shin deep.

My guess is off tomorrow, 2hr delays the rest of the week so that high schoolers don’t have to get to school in the dark with the ice

I doubt plows will get to all of the neighborhood streets by Wednesday morning.

Getting to literally every street is not a requirement to reopen schools. Bus stops are usually on more well traveled roads, which will be plowed.

It basically is and yes, nudes drive on neighborhood roads, especially for elementary school kids. We live across the street from our ES and usually get plowed pretty early but not yet today.

Nudes drive on neighborhood roads? I clearly haven’t been paying attention.

What neighborhood, specifically?

+1. Even the main road in our neighborhood that leads directly to the public ES has only been minimally plowed and side roads (the busses go on) still haven’t been touched. Tomorrow is a nonstarter. Wednesday is TBD based on removal progress today as well as what does or does not happen tonight.

I'm guessing autocorrect but can't figure out what it was supposed to be. Teeheehee.
