Biden will NEVER look tough on immigration.
We have 3 years of essentially open borders under Biden as proof.

He's sufficiently muddied the waters. He can spin this hard over summer/fall.

Spin what? That the GOP doesn’t care about what they claim to be their top issue? That’s not “spin” that’s what happened.

I care, but I also see why the GOP isn’t fixing this now. It would be a temporary fix lasting only until Biden is reelected. Then they will go back to open borders.

You think laws just get suspended once there’s a new president?

I have to say, I thought I was beyond being shocked - but I am actually shocked that Rs had the chance for border enforcement and here we are.

It should tell people how far gone the GOP is, that they’re willing to shoot themselves in the foot so epically.

Those were EXECUTIVE ORDERS! Yes, they can be overturned with a new administration. Do you know what can’t be overturned by a new President? LEGISLATION. That is why it was so important to pass this.

Please go watch some school house rock.

Everyone knows the reason we have this problem is because Democrats are pro-mass immigration and don’t want tough restrictions.

If they did they would have passed H.R. 2

All you gotta do is read the senate bill and it’s clear it wouldn’t have done anything.

What I will be mad about though, is if the GOP decides to pass foreign aid. Stick to the demand of HR 2 in return for aid.

STFU, Trumputin troll.

Whenever I read the "open borders" crap, I know it's a Putin troll.

Liars, all of them.

Putin doesn't want a solution to the border issue either!! Keep the crisis going to make Biden look bad!!
The GOP's crazy strategy will backfire. Hurt the US, as long as it helps their Russiasuck candidate.

If Biden is being genuine about this, why did it take 3 years? What is special about right now that suddenly he wants to get “tough”? Why didn’t he just not mess everything up in the first place?

Why didn’t Trump do something about it when he was president? He had both the house ans the Senate for his first two years. They could have passed all sorts of laws to tighten the border. But they didn’t….

A lot of GOP Senators and some House Republicans are staunchly anti-Trump. They work behind the scenes to sabotage him on stuff like immigration because those GOP members like mass immigration that undermines citizen workers

There's the filibuster. If you ever wonder why Dems don't want to get rid of it, this is a big reason. The only major policy Trump got signed into law (the 2017 tax bill) was passed using reconciliation and required only 50 senators.

But if this is the most important thing ever, why didn’t he do it? I mean he’s spent years riding this issue (weirdly, given his wife’s shaky immigration practices and her family’s chain migration), so it must matter to him.

But no. He didn’t do what you said any fool President can do and he squandered his chance on raising taxes on the middle class and now he’s pulled the strings on the spineless GOP members of Congress.

The Trump administration routinely broke laws, starting with emoluments on day one and going downhill from there.

Trump flouted a law to "close the borders" and the courts overturned his actions. Unless you want Biden to be an authoritarian, he has to abide by the law that Trump ignored. As such, there needs to be a new law, which is why legislation is needed. But the right won't acknowlege that because they would rather continue to spout lies and be angry rather than solve the problem.
