Youngkin and TJ

Going to high school in the 90's in FCPS was much simpler

Lol, was this that fake photo of nationalists staged by Democrats to make Youngkin look bad? That news was hilarious when I first heard about it.

No, it was when white nationalists marched in Charlottesville chanting “you will not replace us”.

The very fine people who think this about Youngkin: "his win is a victory for our ideas"

My bad, I'm reading about it now. The staged photo with the Democrats was the one where they dressed up in the same outfits and tried to link it to Youngkin.

Yes, white nationalists have a distinctive uniform. Fleece vest is the peak.

GQ even covered it.

You're kind of missing the bigger picture, though: if Democrats feel like they need to create fake news to link Youngkin to extremists, that's kind of desperate. One could just as easily point out that Democrats routinely fund and support terrorists, and as a result, terrorists frequently approve of Democrats. Still, it would be a huge stretch to insinuate that terrorists are representative of Democrats.

Youngkin is an extremist. There's no need to create anything. Just look at the crazy things he's doing.

Comparing to liberals, everyone else is in the middle.

Since when is the Lincoln Project “Democrats”? Liars gonna lie.

White nationalists love their Youngkin. As they say, “his win is a victory for our ideas”.

He has no love for any groups other than his fellow white nationalists. Asians want to vote for him it's to their own detriment.

Empty words like these are worthless. We know who to vote for and why.

Your anger is misdirected. Jeffrey Platenberg, the facilities assistant superintendent, is the person you should be angry with. He is a West Springfield graduate and he prioritized West Springfield's recent renovation when schools like Chantilly were in much greater need.

And yes, West Potomac as well. Both actions to enlarge those two schools ensured that the predominantly white demographics of West Springfield and West Potomac could stay that way without changing boundaries.

Interesting article on the levers that Youngkin could (and could not) use to affect admissions to TJ.

One interesting thing in the article: The Washington Post apparently is unaware it is a fairytale that 25% of the class of 2025 is low income. As we all know now, this is based on free and reduced-price meals eligibility - something that is extremely gameable under the current free meals for all polcies. This is a self-reported measure and that every child can claim to be FARMS last year and this year. Prep companies are coaching parents to check yes for both of these boxes and FCPS is looking the other way since it makes them look good to be able to say 25% are FARMS.. A child that checks this box has a 40% chance of admission vs a child that does not check these boxes has a 10% chance.

Gross.

How on earth is this being allowed? Can’t they just require a FRM form instead of just going off of those two checked boxes?

Incredibly unfair to children who are actually low income.

Interesting statistic. Asians used to blindly vote for Democrats. That's why they were taken for granted and trampled on. No more!

I wonder how many parents who checked the box voted for Youngkin.

Fellow Asian voters, Vote OUT all liberal Dems who only know to pander to one group for perceived political gain and thinks that is enlightened. Talk about fools. We don't have much influence nationally but we certainly do have voting power in Northern Virginia.

Amen!

It's weird to me that the single issue that you would vote on, the hill that you would die on, is admission to TJ when the Republican Party as currently constituted is threatening to become an authoritarian anti-democracy party. They LITERALLY attempted a coup thirteen months ago in order to subjugate the will of the voters.

Is your view of the world so myopic that you would sacrifice the political health of the nation over 50-75 spaces at one school? Or a few thousand spaces across the country at elite colleges - in an environment where the importance and value of an Ivy League degree declines every year?

And if so, how do you sleep at night?

The Youngkin campaign USED you to promote their death cult agenda of allowing students to pass COVID into your multigenerational households and kill your vulnerable relatives. People in your community will DIE because of the inevitable ending of mask mandates. Is aunty's sacrifice worthwhile for your child to get a slightly higher chance to go to a slightly more prestigious high school or college?
