| do you have an embarrassing surname? i do but i'm no longer embarrassed by it. had the opportunity to take dh's name but declined, as i've learned to love my own name. |

My maiden name was Fux. Pronounced Fuchs. It was a relief to marry and have a different last name. It's unbelievable how rude people can be.
I have a friend with the last name Roach. The way people reacted to her name doesn't bother her anymore, but it was rough when she was a child. |
| Butt. |
| I had an ugly and difficult to pronounce surname and I could not WAIT to take my DH's name. 4 girls in the family and we all took our DHs' names. My name now is beautiful and I am happy and proud to have it! |
| I married into an embarrassing name. I took it bc it meant a lot to him, but it sucks. And we have a daughter. She's gonna have a rough time in middle and high school |
That's a shame, because it sounds like NOT having an embarrassing name for you and your daughter meant a lot to YOU. |
| In college I was friends with a girl whose last name was Dicks. She got married young. |

I had a mildly embarrassing maiden name and married into an even more embarrassing name. At the time I liked the thought of everyone having the same last name but now really wish I'd kept mine.
Let's just say Ellis Island intake people did a number on this Northern European name. |

No, but to some embarrassment, I didn't date a really nice guy in college because of his embarrassing last name. No, he didn't go on to be a billionaire or marry a super model, but I feel bad that I was so shallow. Yes, I'm happily married.

Maybe you weren't bullied in school? --NP with a "not embarassing" surname, but I teach MS. |
Was her middle name Fux? |
Why didn't she just have it legally changed to Dix? |
We have one side of the family who are named Roach. I don't know why but I never even thought about the bug! But yeah, Fux is a tough one. |
