S/O: Costco stories

Ever seen anything ridiculous at Costco?

Once watched a man try to return a jar of honey that was 90% gone. Customer service told him the honey wasn't even from there and wouldn't accept it.

This is embarrassing, but we helped a couple family members sign up for a membership. After making their first purchase, they absolutely flipped out when asked for their receipt on the way out. A screaming, hysterical fit over being "accused of stealing". They then returned all their items and cancelled the membership. I felt soooo bad for the Costco employees.

The one I remember most is a guy returning a pack of fresh steaks on a Tuesday because at his bbq on Saturday he ended up not needing that many steaks. They looked a little gray and not refrigerated.

Once standing in the food line with my mom, a woman behind us kept being uncomfortably close to us. Extreme. Basically touching us. Repeatedly, we moved forward to give ourselves space. And she moved forward again, breathing on our neck. There was no line behind her/not a crowded area.

Did they take it back?

DC costco: multiple people only buying bottles and bottles of liquor and boxes of croissants.

The worst was watching an anorexic trying samples and then seeing her vomit in a large trash bin in the cereal aisle. She looked so horrible and it was so sad to witness and not know what to say.

I saw a guy returning the big $5 bag of Doritos once. So many questions. Even if someone bought them by accident, Doritos are never WRONG.

Pentagon City Costco - saw a woman open a bottle of wine and drink directly from the bottle. She had her own cork screw on her key chain.

A lady yelled at my dh the other day. There was a single line to get receipts checked. But two workers ready to check. As dh got close to the front, he saw this second worker doing nothing. No one was noticing, so dh went ahead and walked to the checker. (He would have alerted lady in front of him but she was up next... like in 5 seconds). She screamed at him, saying he was cutting in front.....

They finished getting checked at approx the same time, and she was still screaming at him. He hadn't responded before, but finally couldn't take it, and said something like, "You were about to be checked. And you could have gone to that worker. All that fuss for 5 seconds of time." I wish he wouldn't have said anything, but she was unrelentingly upset that he "cut." Costco is a high stress place!!

Wow. I don't go to Costco but it sounds like People of WalMart. I had no idea there was so much excitement at Costco. I always think of rich people as being very calm and unruffled.

That's bulemic behavior. Anorexic people starve themselves. Still, very sad.

I thought of people of Walmart, also. I've never been to Costco. I imagine the shoppers to be bargain hunters who have lots of storage space in their homes and who, apparently, enjoy food samples served on toothpicks as they shop.

Maybe there should be a people of Costco site?

That's what I thought, because who else but someone rich would have the space for buying in bulk. Plus having to have a car to transport all the bulky items bought. PLUS having to pay a membership fee to shop there in the first place. I have a tiny studio apartment I share with my teenager. I can't afford a car and we don't have space for things.

Whenever I'm there, the workers *want* people to form two lines because it's faster. That lady is wrong.....
