Also the implication that the Lodges are part of a Mexican mafia. WTF??? Lodge is a totally anglo name and was intended to be an old-money waspy family in the Archie series. This reinvention of them in Riverdale as some Mexican mafioso family is ludicrous and so fake.

I don't mind the Lodges being latino--I think the all while comic needs a little updating. I do find the casualness regarding teen sex rather odd. I guess growing up in the era of Dawson's Creek sets a standard but shouldn't Betty (the 16 year old good girl) sleeping with Jughead at least warrant a conversation?

Yes, the Mexican "Lodges" are definitely something I can't wrap my head around. I can definitely imagine the writers' room for this show: "Hey, their hair is BLACK! Let's make them Mexican you guys! Then we'll have some "ethnics!" And while we're at it, we'll have Veronica sing "Bittersweet Symphony" at church for her confirmation! Because that would DEFINITELY happen at church! And let's have a bunch of mobsters come to her confirmation because that's a thing!"

Ugh. Mark Consuelos is ridiculously hot, though, so I guess it's not like we get nothing.

I find the use of all the original names to be utterly ridiculous. I was watching this with my daughter and couldn't believe they kept "Betty, Archie, Reggie, JUGHEAD, and ETHEL." Since they've updated everything else, why on earth don't they update the names??

Yup, that Confirmation scene was beyond ridiculous. This show is going off the rails quickly.

This was silly but also incoherent in the narrative. Cheryl burnt the house down, and scared the shit out of her mom, but now her mom doesn't give a shit what Cheryl thinks. What?

Also, did Cheryl's mom sleep with Hal? They just introduced that idea and left it. Because Riverdale.

And "Chec" or whatever his name is, is so ridiculously campy/creepy. Seriously, who would let that guy in their house?

I am only watching the next episode to see what is going on with Alice cleaning up a dead body and a pool of blood. Alice is my favorite character.
