Meghan Markle and Prince Harry News and Updates

Archbishop of Canterbury just got a hot load dropped on him. So he held a secret royal wedding to those in line for the Monarchy? Wow, ok, that is something else. Can't wait to see that story line straightened out...

Meghan and Harry made the no title decision. He would have been granted one by the Queen.

Meghan did not percieve it that way and she's clearly put out.

No, according to the letters patent, the great grandchildren of the monarch are not princes. Once Charles becomes King, Archie will be a Prince.

But the issue Meghan took was that the BRF was contemplating changing the letters patent so that Archie would never become a Prince. Security is tied to the Prince title, which was Meghan's primary concern, but it also upset her that they would change a long tradition just when the only mixed race recipient could benefit from it. Meghan said exactly this in the interview.

You can't marry in a back yard in the UK it isn't legally binding. Maybe he just did it to shut her up.

Always has been (and it’s pretty clear why). DCUM is completely out of touch (just go look in the Finance and real estate threads for further proof). It’s fun to read these posters falling all over themselves in hatred.

Exactly, so was that a lie from her? Then what else did she lie about...

My sense is Meghan sees herself as the next Oprah? Perhaps she was "nope" to that?

I think she does see herself as the next Oprah. She wants what Oprah has. That’s why she invited Oprah to her wedding even though they were not previously friends. That’s why she decided to buy a home next door to Oprah. That’s why she went to Netflix and Spotify for her business deals. She wants to be a beloved, uplifting content provider for the masses and an inspirational lifestyle influencer, who is deeply admired by the public.

Why is it a lie? The backyard ceremony didn't have to be legal. They knew the big day was coming.

Brilliant. King’s landing is definitely on fire after tonight.

I think it was William. Harry made clear it was in a conversation about what hypothetical children would look like. This tracks with previous reports that Harry was engaged by some conversation he had with William about reservations that William had about Meghan. And, inexplicably, Oprah mentioned William as she transitioned to asking Harry about the skin tone conversation.

Yep.

If it is William, that would make their estrangement make more sense. I never understood why William raising concerns about how fast the relationship was developing would cause such a rift. If that conversation included concerns about race, then yeah, a much bigger deal.

Yes the BRB has withdrawn security from other members of the family at different times. Fine. But Beatrice and Eugenie, for instance, are not subject to constant racist criticism and often lies in the tabloids. They are barely known outside the UK unless you care about the British Royals, which many people do not.

The issue is that Meghan and Archie are both biracial, the press and even members of the firm were racist and at a minimum uncomfortable about this, Meghan was experiencing serious mental health issues as a result of all this, and the BRB didn’t seem to take any of that into account.

Obviously a family member with extremely high press exposure, much of it racist, should get a security detail. It’s not a prize! It’s practical. I get the question about taxpayer funds, but it’s not like Charles and the Queen aren’t wealthy enough on their own to assist with this, which is what any functional family would do. And ignoring it even participating in the racism, ignoring Meghan’s requests for help re:mental health? This stuff is sociopathic.

If your response is “eye roll, that’s not how Royal protocol works” you have entire missed the Forrest through the trees.

A security detail in Canada once they stepped back from the royal family and declared they wanted to be self-sufficient? I am confused why Harry/Meghan would not pay for it. Plenty of celebs have private security. That's a lot to put essentially on the British taxpayer. I do understand why Harry has and will have lifelong concerns about security, but not sure why they found paying for it themselves unfair. My overall impression was of a couple that wanted to have their cake and eat it too and that it just didn't work out how they expected. Sad for Harry as he has suffered real trauma in his life, and an estrangement on top of that is sad. At least he has a beautiful family, but something tells me over time he is going to need to re establish some bonds with his own roots for his mental well being.

No you’re being intentionally obtuse.

They wanted a security detail for Archie while they were working royals. There was an incident on the Africa tour where Archie was targeted while his parents’ were out at an event. Luckily nothing happened but can you imagine how terrifying that would be to know that your son is defenseless and without protection?

Especially given all the racist threats against their family? Less than 2 months later they moved to Canada.

And they got security in Canada.

What’s the problem?

You know this reminded me of the mystic who was traveling around giving people hugs for a living. I assume Covid put an end to her business. Post Covid that could be another profit center for Meghan. They could line up at The Grovr, and Meghan could hug them

Yes, this seems to be a recurring theme with Meghan. She always wants more. The family was given security, but they want more. They were given press praise, but they want more. They were given money, but they want more. More, more, more.

Like she had the baby at Portland Hospital rather than NHS Hospital?

Really? Everything I've been reading online is absolutely skewering them.
