I’m not crazy about the narrative that they wouldnt get security and therefore were unsafe. They weren’t going to be GIFTED free security paid for by the crown and taxpayers. Of course they could have paid for their own security just like every other non-royal celebrity or globally prominent person does. Being without security was not actually going to happen. And no, they do not need extra security due to the kid being 1/4 black. I mean even Taylor Swift gets death threats FFS.

I will say that I finished watching the interview disliking Meghan even a bit more (she came across as disingenuous to me) but still willing to defend her because the haters are just so over the top.

I went to bed at a normal time and have no intention of watch the interview. I woke this morning to the news blitz about it, including on DCUM. M&H is just a train wreck playing out in the media.

Apparently even before marriage, H already had sour grapes about father and brother. M is adding fuel to the fire. They are like the poor relations in a family. Does Thomas Markle come to mind? He used the media against own daughter for $money. M is the acorn that fell off that tree.

Perhaps you need to delve more deeply into the issue. This is an anonymous board. People can say whatever they want without fear of being cancelled or shunned publicly. Also, this site is probably whiter and older and more prone to support the BRF partly out of bias, and respect for traditional order and whatever happens to people when they get old and become more conservative etc.

But, he’s 6th in line to the throne not a potential future Queen like Kate and Diana at the time. The training isn’t invested so far down the line, but protocol definitely was.

Fergie wasn’t given instructions on protocol either. She said as much on her Oprah interview many years ago. Why, because Andrew was the spare and second in line. What makes you think the wife of the sixth in line would receive instructions.

DP. I'm seeing a lot of both, tbh. They are not universally sympathetic or universally condemned. Some on social media love them and others don't. I wouldn't say that DCUM is out of touch or unrepresesntative. A bit less sympathetic to them then but no, elsewhere on the internet, it's not just positive reactions.

It came across as calculated. They hit some trigger topics which they knew were going to blow up and coming on the heels of the last season of the Crown, it has created a perfect storm and The Firm is being viewed as the Villain.

As someone who grew up in Britain, Meghan should have done more homework on the Royal Family and the culture. It might have made her think twice.

I do think this family is bad about learning from their mistakes. They repeat a lot of history.
