I find her to be a great role model for young women and girls, and exceptionally brave. She is a good human which was obvious in how much time she spent nurturing Jordan during the qualifications right before she had to go on herself.

I always thought she was GOAT and a great role model too. My niece, a fairly high level youth gymnast (who will never be olympic level, but is being courted by a couple of colleges), though, told me last weekend SB is overly arrogant, not a team player and many gymnasts feel the same way. This was BEFORE she dropped out of any events. I texted her after I heard she'd dropped out, and my niece said something like "SEE, she does not care about her team...selfish!". I can see both sides of this, and actually sympathize more with her needing mental health help, but I thought I'd throw out that not all young gymnasts think she's a great role model.

What would you have had her done at the moment she realized that she couldn't pull it off and might break her neck while doing it?

She refers to herself as the greatest and wore a goat on her leotard. I’m not a big fan of arrogance. Always disliked Usain Bolt for that reason. Tons of athletes have done exceptional things and been clearly very proud of themselves without being tacky.

You missed the point - young gymnasts have recognized her arrogance and all about herself-ism before she pulled out of anything. She didn't get this reputation just Monday.

She literally qualified for the AA in first place. So, like literally TWO DAYS before she was "washed up," she was the best in the world. That doesn't make you question whether you have the story right? Her "bad" performance involved qualifying for finals on EVERY event; the first time that has been done in like 30 years. She nailed the vault she got the twisties on TWO DAYS EARLIER and qualified in FIRST place on VT. But yeah, the problem is just that she sucks. That's definitely it.

Believe it or not youth sports at any levels is super cutthroat and its never ending. All these sports are year round from u12. The higher level you play or compete in the worst it is. It is exhausting mentally and physically. She is extremely talented and has accomplished a lot. Good for her if she wants a break.

Actually, gymnastics is grueling and year round from age 6.
