Sure. I don't feel that way, but you certainly can. I don't think most people who think she is full of herself actually know much about her or follow her career. I think a lot of it is just trying to tear her down out of sheer nastiness. The PP who dislikes Simone and Usain Bolt had a strong "uppity black" undertone in their post. So I think most of it is just hate with a good dose of racism and misogyny thrown in. And like typical mediocre white people, they love to use other black athletes against one another (horrible take comparing her to Michael Jordan) Gag.

I find her to be a great role model for young women and girls, and exceptionally brave. She is a good human which was obvious in how much time she spent nurturing Jordan during the qualifications right before she had to go on herself.

Agree.

This is so hilarious. All these commenters who will never get within spitting distance of participating in a sport on an international level saying that the GOAT did the wrong thing.

Love it. Between this and Leslie Jones, it sums it all up.

She slacked off, more obsessed with being a celebrity and making money. Olympics postponed a year didn’t help. Surprise surprise, she can't just show up and win. Olympic training cycle getting pushed out a year just makes it worse, you add in a year of limited training and competition and you're outside of your competitive mindset for longer periods than you're use to. The mental health excuse is bullshit, plain and simple. She got lost in the sauce, as they say.

The twisties at age 25. In other words, washed up. Why is this such a big story? She’s old as hell for the sport, rich and doesn’t have it anymore. Is the news media and her corporate sponsors just trying to save face after hyping her up to be a God? Very weird.

I would appreciate it if those who think Biles is full of herself could direct me to an interview in which she says as much.

My personal opinion is that athletes will be prone to setbacks when they are not 100% living for competing. Going on vacations with the boyfriend and doing all kinds of commercials gets in the way of remaining laser focused. It’s not a criticism. It’s how athletes perform at maximum ability (physically and mentally) regardless of ethnicity, race or nationality.

Who wants to bet the previous two posts are from the same unhinged white lady? Just a guess...

It's just not sticking is it Jan?

Definitely White, definitely have never done a competitive sport.

I have no opinion on biles but wish the media would switch the focus in the coverage to the gymnasts who are still competing.

She had a goat sewn to her leotard. Do you think maybe she just likes farm animals?

I always thought she was GOAT and a great role model too. My niece, a fairly high level youth gymnast (who will never be olympic level, but is being courted by a couple of colleges), though, told me last weekend SB is overly arrogant, not a team player and many gymnasts feel the same way. This was BEFORE she dropped out of any events. I texted her after I heard she'd dropped out, and my niece said something like "SEE, she does not care about her team...selfish!". I can see both sides of this, and actually sympathize more with her needing mental health help, but I thought I'd throw out that not all young gymnasts think she's a great role model.
