DA vs ECNL vs everything else

If Spirit can peel of Mclean and or Bryc kids they will be the dominate DA...in my opinion.

Loudoun will never be top dog in area with FCV DA next door...especially as ECNL grows weaker. They will continue to bleed their player pool .

Let's see how Loudon does @ Jefferson. One bad game against strong competition at one tournament does not define a team.

Well, when that one game and “strong competition” was a 5-1 loss to FCV that kinda says a message for ECNL vs DA no?

US Soccer should pull the FCV DA license and give it to Richmond United. Better club, stronger talent, better facilities, helps covers Richmond and Tidewater area

Did they even apply for the girls DA? They may have to drop the ECNL if doing so.

I think the VA Spirit team is going to close down

Outside of the 03 age group, BRYC is just ok....and they're competeting in a watered down ECNL.

Arlington can peel those kids as well.

Arlington can peel those kids as well and it's a lot less expensive than Spirit

I live in Loudoun county but I think Arlington may be the dark horse because of their location. They can pull from many area communities inside the beltway, and even DC and Bethesda. Spirit and FCV are on top of each other and with Loudoun getting ECNL there are 3 clubs fighting each other over the player pool out here.

Interesting theory.
Their 04 team is pretty strong already, and the 05s are improving. They are both pretty solid teams. ID sessions are this week. We’ll see how many girls they are able to attract.

Did Arlington announce who the coaches will be for their Girls DA teams next year?

i think Spirit will be good this year. Why would they close down. They are the model that the DA wants around the country - a link to a professional team. Some of the best Spirit girls actually get to go and practice with the women's team and they had more National team players this year than FCV. I don't think FCV had any. Anyone who has spent even 1 season at FCV would know that there is no true development there. Every coach there cares about winning and finding 1 national team player so they can post her on their website. its a business.

And i meant it when I said FIND a player - NOT develop one.

Not a fan...but FCV does have someone called up to YNT.

DA is in expansion mode. They will not close anything, only expand. In theory the younger DA should have a much large net vs the older side. Maybe 4 u13 - u15 to feed one older DA. It makes sense to have the cut at u16.

Spirit VA just addressed the $$ issue in a website post. http://washingtonspirit.com/da/

“In 2017/18 seasonal year the Spirit cost to participate was set up as an “all-inclusive” fee, which provided everything the player needed for the entire year beyond travel costs (air, lodging, ground transport, team meals) for games and showcases. For 2018/19, we are re-structuring both our fees and travel policies to align more with how other youth clubs operate in the DMV region. For complete details, please visit our Fees FAQ here.”

I’m with the poster who said the Arlington Girls DA teams will look mostly the way the Arlington Girls Red teams look today, maybe add 2 or 3 players per roster. They’re not holding very many ID sessions.
