Well, let's see...They hadn't seen their friend since around 4:00 a.m. and didn't know where she was in a foreign country but thought they'd just go on a day trip?!

How were they going to reach her if 1. She didn't have her phone on her, 2. Or they tried reaching her but she didn't pick up maybe because they thought she was still sleeping or with that guy? 3. Things werent known at time of them going on a day trip? Didn't read all the reports to know if any of those questions were answered.

Was the guy known to them on that trip prior to that night? One of the young woman's friend could have stayed with her tho on the beach (being a better friend). Does anyone actually know what occurred before the friends left to go back to the hotel and her staying on beach?

No. Friend's job was to tell her why this is a bad idea and to inform resort desk that she didn't come back at night before going for the scheduled trip. She wasn't required to put herself in danger at night at beach in a foreign country with a drunk male.

Kids go to places like DR to be irresponsibly drunk and for casual hook ups. With that implicit understanding, one's friends will not stand in the way of actualizing that goal.

Plenty of people on here let their kids go to beach week or have parties where they serve alcohol. A kid is sitting in Arlignton county jail right now after killing his friend from a drunk driving accident whole being so completely hammered and “supervising” a freshman high school party.

Most parents DO NOT CONDONE this. I never did. My adult sons are very successful and never felt the need to get wasted. As my son is in medical school this is frowned upon.

You don't know everything your children do. I am a very successful female adult, went to an Ivy, got great grades and never caused my parents any trouble. I didn't even drink for most of college. However, I made a ton of stupid naive mistakes in college that could've turned out poorly if things happened differently.

Reading is fundamental. Try again.

They were probably suspects since they were with her until they headed back to hotel and she didn't. They had drinks in hotel lobby around 3am reports said. If it was minibar, no good. They could perhaps find in video footage of who was responsible for any wrongdoing if it involved drinks or any other things.

The theories are accidental drowning or beefy fug dude twice her size didn’t like hearing no and killed her. The girls did not kill her. Are you drunk?

Were you there and did you see what happened? Probably no.

Have they ruled out the girls?

We are very close and they know the consequences of alcohol abuse. But I get what you're saying.

Have you ever been around someone so drunk that they have no idea what is going on?

Yes. Many times, in college. These kids had been drinking ALL night. Expecting rational actions and behaviors doesn't make a lot of sense in that context.

No it really doesn’t. Drunk people in the water in the dark aren’t functioning like lifeguards. He is an American tourist about her age, in what way would he be involved in a trafficking ring operating through the DR? I empathize with her family but the simplest explanation is both were drunk- both swam- he was a stronger swimmer / not as drunk and made it back out of the ocean - she didn’t. He was disoriented and drunk and passed out and didn’t realize she hadn’t made it back out til he woke up after 9 am. Even then he could’ve assumed she did make it out and had already gone inside so he didn’t immediately alert anyone. It’s still tragic but this need to assume someone did it vs a terrible accident occurred is bizarre to me. Not everything is a true crime story.

I feel badly for the young man. He’s going to be scapegoated for this.

+1. I feel like this is a case of everyone was wasted, lets go for a swim. His story is changing because he was blacked out and probably doesn't remember. Stumbled back to his room eventually probably thinking she went back to hers or didn't even realize she was missing. To think she was trafficked seems very extreme.

Could it be that they think someone else was involved not necessarily that guy that was with her on the beach?
