How do you get birds to shut up?

| THEY ARE SO EFFING LOUD. I don't find it cute or pretty or soothing. How do I deter birds from congregating nearby, and thus chirping their heads off? Is there a device? A sound only birds can here that drive them away? How do I shut them up? |

The birds are wondering the same thing about you. They do not find you pretty or soothing. They just want you to shut the eff up as well, as you so elegantly put it.
Seriously, you can buy noise cancelling headphones if you are so sensitive to sound. |

| Try buying a Scare Eye balloon. We had a pesky woodpecker that would hammer away on our roof every morning at sunrise. This worked and scared it away. Maybe it would work on other birds? There are a few varieties on Amazon. |

Do you have a tree very near your house? May need to trim it back.
Years ago we had a mockingbird (?) that could mimic an alarm clock, ugh. |

I really love nature, I swear, but I have lain awake listening to birds at midnight, 3am, 4am, and 5am. It's a sign of summer for me. I actually get used to it and it doesn't bother me after a few weeks, but yes, for several nights in a row, I will be lying in bed, thinking, WTF, why are birds chirping at midnight?!
It's very annoying when it first starts, and I have fantasized about that scene in Steel Magnolias where they use a crossbow to shoot firecrackers into the tree. |

I can't believe there is yet another thread about hating birds singing. You people are the most miserable pieces of work I have ever encountered. The sound is so beautiful. If you are so stressed out that you can't appreciate the sound, then reevaluate your life.
Now a rooster...that shit is horrible!
