Now a rooster...that shit is horrible!

And stupid. S/he can't even spell "hear" (which is half why I asked if they came from Jersey).
I don't mind roosters either. My neighbors have them, and they don't bother me at all.
Earplugs are cheap. I suggest all those bothered by nature invest in some.

Huh? "Jersey" actually has one of the most educated populations in the country (& some of the best public schools). It also has many birds, I'm sure. And, no, I am not from there.

Educate yourself, PP.

I am, believe me. I deal with its product every day.

True on both counts. Some miserable people on here.

We have noisy birds who are early risers and cheepers in a particular tree by our house. I used to use earplugs. But after we built an addition and moved to a new room on the back of the house, now it's my kids' problem but they don't seem to be bothered.

NP here. I love birds, normally. But, why are they always the loudest BEFORE dawn? And then when it's 7am and I really need to wake up, no, they're twittering away decorously like little old ladies, exhausted after raving all night.

Would you say the same about a dog barking in the early morning, or all the time? I don't find birds chirping their heads off any more pleasing than a dog barking its head off. It's all annoying and after a while, can drive anyone insane.

Dogs bark to sound an alarm to humans or other dogs. It's totally different. Yes I find incessant barking annoying. Birds...very nice and relaxing. Where I live we also have frogs, crickets etc and I love it in the spring and summer.

The intent of why the animal may be making noise may be different, but to different people, it's equally annoying and obnoxious. You find birds singing "nice and relaxing" - I might as well be listening to a pack of dogs barking, or car alarms going off. But maybe you need to reevaulate your life if you find those sounds irritating?

Seriously. It's nature. Deal with it. And deal with whatever the f other problem you have going on in your head right now. Probably anxiety or some combination of that with something else (depression? OCD? etc.) Look into it.

I think you need exposure therapy. Buy a bird book of birds of VA. Hang a feeder outside your window. Observe the birds which come to feed and identify them in the book. Realize what a non-human world is going on right outside your window and how it makes the rest of your human cares fall away and seem minute and infinitesimal. Start opening your mind to all of the other creatures that are calling your little patch of the world, "home."

HA! I love birds, but hate them at 4:30 when they chirp right outside my window too.

You all must be morning people! Ain't nothing short of a mack truck (or my child calling) that will wake me up at 4:30! NO-THING!

Yes! My daughter woke me up coughing at about 2 am today, but I couldn't go back to sleep because of the effing birds! Why are birds chirping at 2 am? Newly hatched babies maybe?
