“The Coppermine 28's let a parent take over to benefit their daughter & actually will leave her without a strong team to play on come recruiting year.” - BOTC

Rumour is the coach’s daughter is moving to SW….guess she won’t be coaching anymore.

So Coppermine will have a new coach and completely new players as it enters the recruiting year. Sounds like a great place to be.

Better than M&D DC or Capital ‘28. At least this team plays in the top brackets and is competitive. Why all the hate for this club?

No hate for the club. Just an interesting case study in how a team with limitless potential ended up in flames.

If all the good players on the current team leave then you can say it didnt work. Let's hold off on saying that until after tryouts.

Everyone says doom and gloom yet they are still #11. Ranked higher than Capital.

Coppermine slid from #4 to #11 in one year. It could get much much worse if they have to scramble to find a new coach and new players going into recruiting season. Their post advertising IMMEDIATE OPENINGS on the 28 team reeks of desperation.

All of that dysfunction at Coppermine and they have still out performed Capital.

The mom of the middie who is likely leaving the team wasn’t the only coach. They have a head coach.

The head coach also has a player on the team.

Below Copied

In the DC / MD / VA region, over the past three years:

* Capital Blue has sent 25 players to top 20 programs and 8 to ivies

* M&D Black has sent 18 players to top 20 programs and 2 to ivies

* Hero’s Green has sent 13 players to top 20 programs and 4 to ivies

* Coppermine has sent 0 players to top 20 programs and 0 players to ivies

Some players overlap both categories. Stats above and raw data (below) taken from what's available on Inside Lacrosse. Commits to ivies and top 20 programs were highlighted since players either choose strong academics or strong lacrosse schools. (Obviously there are many great academics represented; to avoid subjective interpretation of a strong academic school I differentiated top 20 v ivies only.)

Let’s wish the families of the Coppermine 28s a happy 4th weekend. It will be the happiest they’ll be in quite some time.

No one doubts Capital’s success in the past and with ‘26 in particular. ‘27 and ‘28 look bleak at best. ‘29 may be even worse as M&D DC is a legit challenger. Parents, even Capital parents, are growing tired of the “my way or the highway” attitude from Capital.

You cannot compare the 2026 year to any others though. There is an unprecedented number of talented players in that grade.

“Hey guys … let’s try out for Coppermine. People are saying the club has no recruiting record, uses parent coaches who favor their own daughters over others, encourages players to put their own interests above the team by allowing them to skip games so they can be healthy for individual showcases, has shown poor leadership which has caused many 28s to scramble and explore positions at other teams just before their recruiting year, and is in full panic mode by advertising IMMEDIATE OPENINGS on the team. Who’s with me!!??!?”

This is so sad watching Capital people denigrate themselves by trying to denigrate teenagers that happen to not be in their program.
Disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourselves. What awful people.

How is what’s happening at Coppermine a Capital problem?

Nice obfuscation. Where in the PP does it say anything negative about any player(s)? Nowhere. The club put those unwitting players in a difficult position. You just don’t like that it’s being written about. Tough.

Capital is toast.
