no doubt the 06 team is unique. the 05 team is also strong. the 07s and the 08s not so much. The 07s are being carried through the fall season by the girls from the 06 team that can play the fall season with them because they are still in 8th grade. we will see what happens in the spring. point being kevin has a mixed record so far. some good, 06 and 05, some not so much yet. we shall see. his personality is a bit off putting so if they dont win the club will be in dire straits. they have had some but not really severe turnover which is to be expected with the change in leadership. hopefully it is contained after this year |
05 team had same thing happen to them year before when many of 05 Rush girls joined when KL was hired. That caused some girls to get moved to White team and others to go elsewhere - like McLean - when they could not make the team. Disagree about the mixed record on KL and other coaches. Yeah, the 05s benefitted last year from adding a bunch of talent from Rush, just as the 06s benefitted from the Rush girls this year. But look at how some of these teams developed over last few years. Going way back, 06s were demoted in their first year of EDP to second division half way through the U11 year. Without adding much by way of outside talent, they improved since then to the point where they were 2nd in their ECNL conference when COVID stopped play. Last year, PDA Blue was the defending ECNL national champion and beat BSC in two very close games, 3-2 and 2-1. PDA Blue's next most competitive game last year was a 5-1 win over Match Fit. That's a lot of progress relative to peer teams in 3.5 years. And that's why expectations are high for the 06s now after all those Rush girls joined this year. While the 07s were never demoted in EDP, they were average at best and were heavily beat by Maryland United in EDP games and by McLean in tournaments. They finally caught up with Maryland United last year, winning 1 of their 2 games and tieing the other. They also caught up with McLean this year, winning 1 of their 2 scrimmages and tieing the other. All of that was without any trapped players, so please stop being negative for the sake of being negative. Some of this progress relative to other local teams was before KL joined last year, but it seems to be accelerating with him. We'll see how all of these BSC ECNL teams continue to progress - or fail to progress - this spring. |
Sorry not meaning to be negative. dont know enough about 07s to say one way or the other. You point though to at best mixed success. Splitting with two decent but not great ecnl teams make them decent but not great. I d also place money the 06s brought to play with them in league play are better than those brought by other clubs. getting to something i do know something about, you are 100 percent right the 06 and 05 teams improved because of the rush kids brought over. i don't know if those teams exist at the 07 and 08 ages but i doubt it. that leaves development of current roster. something i think / know from personal experience kevin is not great at. he can obviously win with talent. i think he will do decently with less talent because he can teach tactics and does it well. he probably wont develop talent significantly which will mean teams, barring an influx of kids, will tread water |
the 07s arent using those trapped players. |
Yeah, PDA blue beat the 06s in the fall with a goal with 3 seconds left. Final whistle was blown as soon as BSC re-started play. Was a great game. Same with the 2nd game. 0-0 at half, gave up goal near end of game. Did very well in Texas showcase. All pre-rush girls. will be interesting to see how they do in the coming months. |
2005s are #1 in MD
2006s are #1 in MD 2007s are #1 in MD The only Girls team in question is the 08s but they are getting better. They added a talented girl who plays up top. They have multiple players interested in moving over the break. So, really, that's not even a question. 2009s have almost moved to #1 in less than a year. 2010s are #1 in MD That's not what you define as a problem. What you define as a problem is what the 2nd team looks like, otherwise known as your talent pool. That is the problem with Bethesda. |
that is 100 percent not true. the 07s are using 06 players. BSC literally posted a 30 second highlight from their game on the twitter feed this past weekend and of the 4 or 5 kids visible 2 of them play on the 06 team. again i am not being negative to the 07s. they are doing fine and haven't benefited from a merge like we have. that being said i really think they and the 08s are kevins real test. lets see how he does when he doesnt have the low hanging fruit of teams he was actively involved with in the past |
i will also add to the 100 percent not true comment, the girl who scored plays on the 06 team |
10 second video of one goal..... The goal scorer in that video is an 07 playing up with the 06s. not a trapped player. |
Shes an 07. |
#1 in md? your kiding right? id bet money celtic would blow them lut of the water at multiw age groups. your definition of number 1 is bsc or united because you are focused on ecnl only. yeah great of 2 teams they are the best. 3 if you count pipeline which is new to ecnl |
So are you complaining that a 2007 girl is playing with a 2007 team rather than playing up a year? |
fine. does she play on the 06 team? yes. |
and? The comment was saying they were benefiting from older players playing with them (trapped players stuck in 8th grade that can play down, as rest of their team is usually playing high school). Thats not the case here. Its a player playing on age. |
