Superbowl halftime - scantily dressed women and very covered up men

Guess what you and your snot nose off spring are not the target demographic.

So we have to choose between a woman dancing like a stripper and showing off her crotch AND cartoon characters? Shows how extreme America is these days.

These types of dance moves are appropriate for children? Because Super Bowl has always been a family event. I guess not anymore. And don't tell me this is typical Latino dance stuff...sorry, I am Latino and I don't buy that.

Seriously she looks like she’s having an orgasm in that second picture.

So no when Harry met sally at your house. It when white women do it it’s cute?

I thought it was an awesome fusion of cultures. Just because my political leanings are against illegal (keyword: illegal) immigration doesn’t mean I despise everything multicultural. It was a perfect show for Miami.

I went back and watched it again and I honestly feel that some of the shock value was from watching it one time. It seemed far less sexy the second time. Honestly, some weird camera angles probably are responsible for the most overtly sexy parts and that isn’t the fault of the performer.

So what if she had a segment on a pole? Your kids only know it’s a “stripper pole” if you tell them. Otherwise, it’s simply a dance prop. Her moves on the pole were actually incredibly athletic. They weren’t “slutty” at all. No, she wasn’t “spread eagle on a pole” but for maybe a two second transition move.

Shakira’s smile was pure, infectious joy. I mean, I smiled when she smiled. She was having SO much fun just doing what she loves.

It’s just amazing that all the women who call for empowerment and for women to build up other women are tearing down two beautiful women who have built empires of their own. They have the beauty and the brains. Truly inspiring.

Take a look at the photos just posted and come back with more thoughts.

The moves in those pictures are what some of these posters are apparently teaching their young daughters to do because it is their definition of empowering. That way when someone asks the child what makes them empowered as a female, they can demonstrate their female empowerment by rubbing their crotch and their boobs and asking guys to touch their asses.

You are really teaching this is female empowerment to your young daughters? This is your role model for female empowerment that you want your daughters to emulate?

Gymnast shoe their crotch too. Stay away from summer olympics.

You love that movie but think I.lo is too provocative.

Also stay away from gymnastics you might see a crotch. Oh and swimming and volleyball and wrestling.

I wonder how many of the posters saying these pictures are female empowerment would take pictures of their young daughters doing these poses and post them online as examples of female empowerment.? If you believe that is empowering for your daughters, wouldn't you be proud of your 6, 8, or 10 year old for showing they feel empowered too as a female?

I didn’t say J.Lo was too provocative. I said it was not appropriate for family viewing. Do you think your child should watch this?

Same as Cirque du Soleil! Same as athletes in skimpy clothes! They’re just dancing! Yay empowered women!!

Yes exactly, just like circus de soleil, gymnastics, swimming, wrestling, dancing with the stars.

Oh please. My 10 year old watched it. The point was that the show was very sexual in nature, despite one (or several) poster(s) claiming it wasn’t. It clearly was.

If my daughter were 50 and looked like this and was worth hundreds of millions of dollars I’d be happy for her to headline one of the largest events perhaps the largest? in the world.

This thread is the reason why the public overlooks middle aged women and their opinions. So over the top with the drama and “outrage”.

When I was a tween my friend and I would put on yin’s of make up dress up crazy and play a game called super model and we would do crazy poses and take pictures.

Sometimes it was punk, sexy, etc.

It was just fun. Geez lighten up.
