You have never lived with a sociopath then.

Or not even a sociopath, just an abuser.

In real life she wouldn't be able to go back to the commander's home;she'd be hung along with Nick. She also couldn't magically transport herself about town as a handmaid and save her other daughter. I hope the next season is true to life and shows the execution of June, Nick, the Marthas, and Serena. With an epilogue that Hannah never saw her mother again, and Nichole was captured because she started shrieking because she was hungry and had no milk. The end.

All of this has crossed my mind as well. Just UGH on this entire episode other than the awesome Marthas.

I think Eden's death and Serena's finger changed June's ability to leave. Eden was raised a believer and was drowned in a high school pool after being married as a teenager. Suddenly the "safe" life that Hannah had, not so much. Even Serena, an architect of Gilead was mutilated. Once June saw that and also comprehended that there was a network of Marthas, staying for Hannah became feasible in a way it hadn't before. I think she will find Joseph (I read he is back for the next season) and work form there.

Honestly, I was just glad they didn't;t use Bradley Whitford as a new commander for June. Not that watching that show is easy, but I am not in for watching Josh Lyman rape Zoe Bartlett.

Burn it down, June!

Do you think that Serena got anesthesia for the finger slice? Or was it a butcher knife and the pain and gore is part of the punishment?

They don’t use much medicine, so I’m going with no on anesthesia.

Warren had anesthesia when his hand was amputated over Janine, but I doubt they would “waste” it on a woman.

The Aunt Lydia actress is sooooo good! “He said you were SPLENDID!!” Wow. She is hands down the best talent in this cast.

Agree! Can’t get enough of her.

Marthas rock!

Okay, I love this show and am generally so uncritical. However, there were so many long close ups on June that I started to get irritated to the point of being angry. This last episode had a shitty director and not enough actual dialogue scenes.

They know that and already gave an update; she is in season 3.

+1- Totally agree, they leave the camera on June for wayyyy too long and it's annoying. My heart goes out to all of the female characters.

The June close ups are so frustrating because they take away from all the awesome supporting roles. I could also do without her flashbacks at this point. Let’s get a Lydia back story already, or Nicks.
