| WaPo also said they recovered a knife, a hammer, and the phone of the shooter's sister. |

Also refers to the suspect as a "juvenile offender."
Note to self, if one of my kids becomes troubled, I will NOT be sending him/her to a school full of other troubled kids. I will work within the existing school system or homeschool. Seems like the dating pool at this school was seriously lacking. |
So to me this indicates premeditation. And he apparently had a previous juvenile record. I work with adolescents who have emotional disabilities and this story kills me. So very many signs were there. If the guns was from his parents - I just can’t see how they aren’t responsible. |
I can re-check but last I heard, they were not releasing any information to the 'public' due to the nature of the crime. My rescue place was essentially told 'wait in place'. |
People who do not understand Virginia gun laws OR manslaughter laws should shut up. They're not going to be charged with anything. |
|
Just because the current law in our state doesn't allow that, it doesn't mean we shouldn't try to change it away from the typical NRA bullshit no-responsibility laws.
This is what needs to change to stop shit like this. Parents need to be charged when their children use their firearms against others. |
What the f*ck wouldn't they be charged? |
Why the F would they be charged? Do you know the cicumstace surrounding the gun? |
No, but best believe the parents will be held liable in a court of law if they created a situation that allowed a 17 year old access to guns. There are 2 children who have no parents to raise them. Those idiot parents of that idiot kid will be on the hook for compensating them. |
| What high school did her daughter and the killer boyfriend attend? I’m assuming it is a private school because they don’t live near each other - he’s from Lorton and she’s from Reston. |
If it's their gun...their negligence caused 2, possibly 3, deaths. Of course they should be charged. |
It was mentioned a few times upthread. Some small school for kids with issues. |

From the article, discussing the shooter’s mom:
“where she posted tributes to Confederate generals and argued in favor of keeping Confederate statues in various cities. She also posted a photo of her son at a shooting range, holding what the caption says is a Thompson submachine gun. The target is a “Nazi Hans” zombie cartoon.” Very fine people. Very fine. |
Just because their 17 year old had access to their gun doesn't mean they are negligent. Is there a law that you can cite that states they had to lock up that gun in Virginia so a 17 year old couldn't access it? |
