it is not clear if he is just seeking custody of the younger boy or the girl too. The girl has a living biological father who has been in her life to some degree. Also, we don't know yet if she plays into any of what happened or not. Not my business, but if she werte involved in any way i would not want my money to go toward her defense fund.

If this is legit, then kudos to Jason for being a devoted uncle stepping up to the plate.

It's finding out things like that which make see some little shining light in the middle of a terrible tragedy. I truly wish that boy all good things in life and I pray the daughter can move forward and do something positive with her life down the line to honor her mom and stepfather. Wishing the grown boy good things as well.

For me, the most important detail that hasn't been clarified yet is: how did he get a gun? Having access to a gun made it infinitely easier to kill the victims.

Absolutely. With a NYE shooting by a teen it was already released the child used the family gun. Here nothing. No mention. I assume the parents are liable in some way if it was there's? Do we know he brought it and it was not the girl who obtained it?

Don't know about the "fig" or the "dog" . I definitely won't be judging if the dog is not with the uncle. For all we know they have a dog that doesn't get along with his dog cousin or they could have young kids fearful of dogs or allergies. There is someone on here well connected in the shelter and rescue community who can probably find out where the dog is.

Hasn't been reported in the press yet whereas with the shooting in NJ by a teen it was reported within a day that the gun was registered to the parents.

The buzzfeed article says that one Buckley’s concerns was how the excessive amount of time her daughter spent on the phone with her boyfriend made her forget her meds, etc.

Quoted PP here. Right, even if this boy was a liberal who loved Jews, he was still bad news. So the Nazi aspect was a red herring.

I also feel the matter should have been discussed privately between school and both sets of parents without involving unrelated friends like the 18 year old in the article or emailing the contents around. Regular discipline methods like curfew, social shaming and grounding probably did not work here.

Both sets of parents likely underestimated the criticality of the situation. It is a no win situation overall.

I would be very interested in knowing how he got the gun, since given that anything could have set off this boy, not having the gun seems to be the only way to have avoided this tragedy.

He didn't need a gun to get into that house. If it hadn't have been a gun it could have been a baseball bat, a knife, a brick or God only knows what else.

But chances are high that, had the weapon been a baseball bat, knife, a brick or God only knows what else, the parents would still be alive today.

The problem is ACCESS TO GUNS and the sheer number of guns that are floating around in seemingly "normal" homes and communities now.

And for that, the NRA and gun manufacturers have blood on their hands.

I dunno. The Manson family didn't need guns to carry out their horrors.

Oh please. The Manson family were professional killers, not some 17 year old idiot yahoo, going up against two adults.
