So many things wrong

1. Talking points right out of the democratic party playbook
2. School shootings are extremely rare
3. People deal with personal issues all the time
4. Pay scales are widely known
5. Going on strike hurts students
6. Parents are in charge of a childs development and molding not teachers

I could go on but I have better stuff to do with my time

Ty for confirming her writing. I almost posted the same article, but I’m currently in a happy place at my school. Posters like you are so gross. She tells a story of a time when she was on lockdown for hours for a potential shooting and you still just laugh it off
Democratic Party talking points? This is a woman’s personal experience. I honestly don’t know what’s wrong with people to be this cold hearted

Apparently the PP thinks rare school shootings are acceptable.

Yup and bring on lockdown while one your students get arrested it's NBD. Talk about being heartless.

Why are teachers so dumb, failure to grasp basic statistics and understand risk....

Not sure why but certainly there was much of that involved in the dumbest decision of all dumb decisions: to close schools for nearly two years.

Schools were not closed for one year, let alone two.

Guess you need to work on your math.

Schools were closed for a year (or more) in some places. Do you actually not know this?

The school buildings were closed for a year. Education continued for those who chose to partake.

And look how well it worked out!

(also buildings were closed for more than a year in some places -- our school closed March 2020 and didn't reopen to students until August 2021)

Lockdowns are fairly common. Basically anytime there is a nearby crime.

Sounds like you don’t grasp what is really happening in schools these days.

The first thing we talked about on PD day was all of the safety drills we needed to run during the year. Fire drills, lockdown drills, evacuation drills, earthquake drill, some others I’m forgetting. While I understand the statistically probability of a school shooting, it’s hard to put it out of your mind when you are consistently told that your door won’t lock this year and you need a plan of how your students will fight a shooter if it comes to that.

Also lockdowns happen often at schools.

Where are you that has earthquake drills? Just curious.

We have lockdown (once or twice a year practice), tornado and fire. A NoVa district.

I have taught at public and private in MD and DC, and had earthquake drills in both places.

Confirming that many schools in DC closed between March 2020 and August 2021. Some schools opened in March 2021, but only for a few kids, or they were only open to kids half the time.

+100

Teachers work so hard. They are grading papers after dinner, on weekends. As soon as a kid is doing poorly, the parents blame the teacher. Maybe your kid is not paying attention, being the class clown, playing on their phone. God forbid a teacher take a phone away, and they will be complaining on DCUM. Parents suck!

And assign homework! Some parents are in uproar over homework. If you are a good teacher, there should not be any homework. Well, how are kids suppose to learn math if they are not practice the many types of math problems. This goes for physics and chemistry also. Kids need to learn to write essays, and papers. This cannot be done during the school day.

Teachers are leaving because they are not support or appreciated in the classroom or financially. Parents and students make their job really hard. Do you really not know why there is a shortage!

My son’s private school allowed students to come back two days per week. School was definitely open. Just admit you are pissed that school dropped the ball on your major concern for your child’s education- child care.

DP. My major concern for my child's education is....education, which didn't happen well in remote and hybrid. This is backed by numerous studies, so I don't have to argue the point.

Which schools “didn’t reopen to students until Aug 2021” as the PP claimed?

No more BS about hybrid being “closed”.
