Simple answer is teachers are treated like unpro crap and blamed for society's ills while being paid peanuts and getting no support from the admin or union.
That’s the reason. I can’t think of another profession requiring a specialized degree and license that pays so little
+100 Teachers work so hard. They are grading papers after dinner, on weekends. As soon as a kid is doing poorly, the parents blame the teacher. Maybe your kid is not paying attention, being the class clown, playing on their phone. God forbid a teacher take a phone away, and they will be complaining on DCUM. Parents suck! And assign homework! Some parents are in uproar over homework. If you are a good teacher, there should not be any homework. Well, how are kids suppose to learn math if they are not practice the many types of math problems. This goes for physics and chemistry also. Kids need to learn to write essays, and papers. This cannot be done during the school day. Teachers are leaving because they are not support or appreciated in the classroom or financially. Parents and students make their job really hard. Do you really not know why there is a shortage!
