This man has not aged.

I would read a health and fitness book by him. The amount of discipline it must take to look this young and good!!

Hello- he’s Latina! Also Eva Longoria…Latinas age really well…JLo anyone?!

Dont exclude Ariana Grande.

She is not Latina. She's Italian-American.

This article on how Grande encourages people to think she's not white is really interesting: https://berkeleybside.com/thank-u-next-to-racial-identity-pop-star-ariana-grandes-record-of-racebending/

A lot of the aesthetic choices are borderline -- the aggressive tanning could be "black fishing" or it could just be engaging in a beauty trend that spans races. However the two things that really gave me pause were her quinceñera comment and the "K-pop" eye makeup she used to make her face look more Asian. Those seem like very overt efforts to make herself appear non-white. And it worked! Everyone thinks she's either Latina or mixed race.

Interestingly, the one woman I know in real life who went through a phase where she was definitely trying to encourage people to think she wasn't white is also Italian-American. I think the olive skin tone might make it easier to do this. The Kardashians have done for their whole careers and their Armenian heritage makes it easier (though the Jenner sisters aren't even half Armenian -- Kylie just adopted her half-sister's looks even though she's as white as a person can be).

It's funny how much has been made of Wicked's very diverse cast. I think the implication Grande is Latina or otherwise non-white contributes to that and she does nothing to dispel the notion. But I wonder if her costars or the director or producer know she's a white woman who has been using misconceptions about her racial heritage to promote herself for years. I bet a lot of them just think she's Latina. Super weird.

NP. If regular people know she’s just Italian, certainly her costars would know as well.

But most regular people do not know she's white. The vast majority of people think she is Latina or mixed race. It's a very common misperception that she has encouraged throughout her career. I only learned she is white like 3 months ago.

That’s not Sophia Vergara. It’s Melania Trump.

Won't watch it next year, those are 3 hours of your life I'll never get back.

Gervais last hosted in 2020. And before that in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016. You need to get a life.

I’m not really sure it’s her fault if people think she’s Latina if she’s Italian. And it’s a pretty fine line. A lot of Italy was run by Spain for many centuries, and the two peninsulas were settled by roughly the same peoples. People like Andy Garcia who are European Latino have made a career playing Italians because it’s basically the same look. I don’t like Ariana’s make up choices but I think she’s entitled to wear what makeup she thinks is flattering on her. This is not black face.

I was watching the football game so missed the Globes. But honestly, the Globes don't even seem all that interesting anymore anyway. Most of the major awards went to the Brutalist, a movie that hardly anyone has seen because it hasn't been widely released. What is the point? I'm being told that this is a great movie without even the chance to see it? Only special people get to see it? Why televise a program like this if it's just about celebrating movies that most people haven't seen?

Why are you even commenting if you didn't watch it? Maybe stick to your boring football commentary.

Because it's easy enough to catch clips of it the next day, like most people do? My point is that the Globes used to be an event in the past, and it just isn't that interesting anymore.

She dyed her hair blond and people still will complain she looks too Latina when she is just looking how she looks and has the name she has and is from Florida. Not her fault people want to box her in nicely into their stereotype and assume ulterior motives.

The movie is just being released widely now, I saw the preview at the movies a couple weeks ago. These Golden Globes were better than average: some solid movies, great fashion, host who was poised and did her job well, fine speeches. No complaints.

Nikki is doing great as host so far.

Zoe Saldaña won the first globe - disappointed for Isabella Rossellini …

Female Actor, Supporting Role, Motion Picture
Selena Gomez, Emilia Pérez

Ariana Grande, Wicked

Felicity Jones, The Brutalist

Margaret Qualley, The Substance

Isabella Rossellini, Conclave
PREDICTED WINNER: Zoe Saldaña, Emilia Pérez

Isabella has a full life. You probably care more than she does.

Seriously doubt that ..,

Listen to the podcast wiser than me with her as a guest. She is busy with a farm.

But wouldn’t that be considered cultural appropriation?
