Golden Globe Awards 2025

The only movie I’ve seen is Dune 2 and it was so long I still haven’t finished it!

Is Emilia Perez or Anora streaming yet?

The Bear was so bad this season I can’t believe it was nominated.

I haven’t seen this most recent season of hacks and haven’t seen Nobody Wants This. Out of the remainder, I guess I’d pick Only Murders — really loved this season with all the doubles, very funny.

Oh wait—I did see Nobody Wants this! That was the Kirsten bell rabbi thing. Definitely not nomination worthy. Lots of better shows than either that or The Gentlemen. I would pick Ghosts or What We Do in the Shadows or Shrinking or Acapulco or lots of other things before either of those!

For TV drama, I’d pick either Slow Horses or shogun (probably shogun will win).

I’d definitely pick Anna Sawai for Shogun for best drama actress in a TV show — she was amazing. Would be happy with either Gary oldham or Hiroyuki Sanada for best actor—both amazing.
For comedy actors I’d be fine with any of the nominees except Kristin Bell and Jeremy Whitd —just not their best performances.

I am out of the loop - I have no idea who Nikki Glaser is. Good luck to her though.

I haven't seen most of these movies, but one of my NY Resolutions is to see more movies in the theater so perhaps I will. But The Brutalist will have to be on streaming. I gotta say I don't see the interest - at all. My law school was built in the Brutalist style and I have no love lost for it.

I missed The Wild Robot when it was in theaters, but it's coming back January 17th and I will definitely see it on the big screen.

I enjoyed both movies but also thought they were so over the top. Especially substance. A bit too much.

I liked Conclave

Nikki Glaser is one of the regular comedians who have done the celebrity roasts for years. Her set at the Tom Brady roast was great, I’m nervous about how she’ll do on CBS though.

I thought so. It lost me during the last section of the movie.

Her jokes in the CBS promos are awful. She's going for the shock vibe of Rick Gervais, but the jokes are really dumb.

Good, but the melodrama was a bit much. Especially the ending.

Whoops I thought Emilia Perez was an actress.

I wanted to like Anora but found it to be a lot. It's really beautifully shot and I think the performances are great, but in the end I thought the story was just not that interesting. There there is one scene where all the main characters are leaving the strip club and it's a one-shot from the VIP room all the way out the door and there's all this crazy stuff happening as they go and I could watch that scene over and over, it was so well done. Not just the composition or what's happening but also the acting in it.

I have not seen the Brutalist or Emilia Perez yet. I don't know when I'm going to watch Emilia Perez because my DH is very anti-musical and won't want to watch it. TBH watching the trailer I don't quite get why it's a musical but the reviews are good and I like the actors so I'll give it a try.

So far my favorite movies this year were Challengers, Ghostlight, and the German movie Teacher's Lounge. None of which are getting much love, sadly.

I like Nikki as a host and hope she does well. I hope she roasts the celebs worse than Ricky Gervais did!

Nikki is good friends with Bill Maher and David Spade (among other comics/celebs). I wonder if she got any jokes or inspiration from them?

I think she already said she wouldn't be so harsh since this is her first GG and she wants to be reoccurring

Ricky Gervais was not funny - just mean

So does Emilia Pérez.
