Men is a relative term. |
Dont exclude Ariana Grande. |
I like it! Would be boring if every man dressed conventionally. I heard a popular Tik Tok style guru also have it a slay not nay rating. |
More like fug lol |
She is not Latina. She's Italian-American. |
I like this suit but it belongs on a 50+ yr old business lesbian |

It was a boring ceremony, the jokes were ok but paled in comparison to those of Ricky Gervais. Some of the award duos were so awkward I wanted to leave the room.
Won't watch it next year, those are 3 hours of your life I'll never get back. |
This article on how Grande encourages people to think she's not white is really interesting: https://berkeleybside.com/thank-u-next-to-rac...cord-of-racebending/ A lot of the aesthetic choices are borderline -- the aggressive tanning could be "black fishing" or it could just be engaging in a beauty trend that spans races. However the two things that really gave me pause were her quinceñera comment and the "K-pop" eye makeup she used to make her face look more Asian. Those seem like very overt efforts to make herself appear non-white. And it worked! Everyone thinks she's either Latina or mixed race. Interestingly, the one woman I know in real life who went through a phase where she was definitely trying to encourage people to think she wasn't white is also Italian-American. I think the olive skin tone might make it easier to do this. The Kardashians have done for their whole careers and their Armenian heritage makes it easier (though the Jenner sisters aren't even half Armenian -- Kylie just adopted her half-sister's looks even though she's as white as a person can be). It's funny how much has been made of Wicked's very diverse cast. I think the implication Grande is Latina or otherwise non-white contributes to that and she does nothing to dispel the notion. But I wonder if her costars or the director or producer know she's a white woman who has been using misconceptions about her racial heritage to promote herself for years. I bet a lot of them just think she's Latina. Super weird. |
