Will SUSA join GA now?

DD is little and I am trying to navigate all of this for her.

NWSL doesn't seem to care about locking down youth talent under contract the way MLS does with the boys.

Because of this there's no clear path to NWSL for girls. All Berman (NWSL commissioner) seems to care about is new franchise clubs, getting cities to pay for exclusive NWSL stadiums, and TV contracts. I guess this makes sense in a growth phase. But eventually NSWL will need to focus on providing a better product on the field. This will mean youth players under contracts, acadamies, and homegrown player rules.

MLS is trying to provide leadership / assistance to NWSL via GA hopefully NWSL starts investing in soccer.

NWSL only gets two spots for development projects currently. And they have to be picky about it because the requirements for care of minors come from FIFA, it’s an undertaking and investment. Gotham seems to be experimenting with this now that the draft is gone. It’s a good thing.

The long term solution is a proof of concept for minor development (ie Gotham model), expand the spots for minors once the foundation is built, and then add an academy so they can have B teams or 2nd tier teams (like Courage with USL) they can add more minors into for development.

Again, if people don’t see the groundwork being laid for this, and the GA elevation to the sanctioning level (peers with MLS, NWSL, etc) as well MLS partnership, Gotham expansion, Koge, OL entering in 2020 and adding an academy, Kang investment at YNT and TID, etc etc etc….if you cants see the momentum, writing on the wall, etc…you’re blind either willfully or ignorantly.

What does Koge have to do with GA?

I agree with you it just seems like everyone but NWSL leadership is trying to improve play on the field.

As I said previously I get what Berman is doing. Shes going after the $$$ while things are hot and making $$$ for current owners. But eventually you're going to need to expand your audience beyond the comfortable shoes and subaru outback crowd.

For those that don't know whenever a new club is added to NWSL the cost to buy in is distributed to all the current owners. Also TV contracts are guaranteed $$$ and distributed across all NWSL clubs. This is the problem. There isn't much incentive to win or fill the seats to capacity.

GA makes deal with MLS Next. What is ECNL makes a deal with NWSL to provide a more clear pipeline with nwsl affilaition for clubs? That would just end GA.

ECNL is making deals with rec leagues for SY.

This is not the look pro leagues want to be associated with.

So the NCAA is a rec league and the players are rec players? Right…

Does anyone else seem to think this alliance has put multiple clubs in a bind. Only clubs that are safe are those with GA/MLSN.

Will clubs with GA/ECNL get invited to these so called combined showcases? Will MLSN offer these GA/ECNL clubs full membership to MLSN on the boys side?

MLSN/GA Showcases are only for the top clubs. Safe to say none of the GA clubs in this area will have to worry about that.

Current GA showcases are open to all clubs. No reason to believe that wouldn’t be the case for future ones. More clubs = more players = more revenues from teams and sponsorships

Press release only mentioned one showcase with select GA clubs. Maybe in about 5 years they will be more integrated but not for awhile it seems otherwise they would have mentioned details.

What is this alliance is really just a testing of the waters? What if nothing happens? That seems most likely to me.

The deal that GA needs is with NWSL not MLS Next. A deal with MLS Next is just dumb.

Where is the NWSL deal? I agree if NSWL made GA its farm clubs then GA would be making progress.

MLS Next knows how to provide a bridge from youth to pro.

Sure NWSL can choose to swim upstream and figure everything out themselves. But this is a HUGE waste of time if MLS Next is willing to provide feedback and assistance.
