MLSN needed a girl's partner to stay birth year. GA just happy for the attention and to be invited for a dance and something to differentiate themselves from ECNL by staying birth year. Not going to work but there is pressure to do something from GA. Makes sense.

Wouldn't say that, especially short term where it'll be a possible strong option for parents/kids, especially when ECNL goes crazy with recruiting Q3/Q4 players in its rush to transform its teams to SY.

What big clubs are left? Tophat and NEFC? They’re not anywhere near tops in their own regions.

By the looks of the SYC college list from the BIG CALIFORNIA showcase, ECNL does not have much to worry about.

Makes sense that MLSN wants a strategic partner on the girls side for the benefit of its clubs. Whether that's because they want to keep their girls side BY at those clubs, time will tell.

But I don't see GA threatening ECNL in this arrangement until either (1) MLSN/USSF/NWSL puts money into GA to subsidize player fees/travel, (2) USSF appears to recruit for youth national teams primarily from GA, or (3) NWSL appears to recruit for pro contracts primarily from GA. Basically, MLSN/USSF/NWSL is going to have to want to unseat ECNL enough to very intentionally use their power/money to do so, at some cost to themselves.

NWSL willing to spend $10 million per year? https://sports.yahoo.com/us-soccer-girls-youth-development-ecnl-000044659.html DA/USSF wasn't.

MLS Academies probably get a chunk, maybe half their ops costs covered by player sales.

MLS isnt going to waste money on that. They are CHEAP!

And when it does, all the good ECNL girls will come and take the spots of the GA girls who aren't as good. If the GA girl is good enough she'll stay, and if not they'll be moved out of the way... Same concept of what VRSC did to their loyal customers when FCV girls became available.

NEFC is top 1 or 2 in the northeast in every age group that has played more than one games.

Tophat - See above/ City SC - See above/ Lou Fusz - See above.

But it is not. No way that there is money to do this. And would anyone go? The girls side and the boys side are so different. College is the #1 thing for girls side except top 20-30 of several thousand girls. Maybe you get those top girls but the rest stay because it is all college focused. If NWSL Next was focused first on college, this could work.

Don't be obtuse. There is a good mix of colleges registered to attend. I've been to showcase for two different sports and this list isn't any different than any other. There are always a mix of schools that attend these events.

You are either ignorant of how it works or just trying to troll.

If the NWSL came out and said they are aligning with GA as their academy, ECNL would be done for. HIGHLY doubt it would happen but just saying hypothetically if it did. Girls would come over if it was that way even if college was the 2nd tier as it is in MLSN and schools would look there first as well.
