Very true and all the while, we've willingly elected two unfit people to serve as Commander-in-Chief of the most powerful country in the world in consecutive elections. Why can't people scrutinize the people running for POTUS as closely as they do pending cabinet member appointments?

Regardless of whether their sex was consensual, he still shouldn't be Secretary of Defense. He went to a conference of Republican women to speak, got blackout drunk (he claims to not remember things too), groped and propositioned multiple women, and ended up having sex with one of them who says it was rape.

You want someone like that - who's so easily compromised - to know our national secrets and be in charge of our armed forces?

Agree. And I suspect he drops out soon too. Republican senators aren't going to the wall for this guy. If Trump appoints a competent woman to replace Hedgseth - like Bondi over Gaetz - he comes out of this looking pretty good too.
