WHY?

I think the answer to your question is obvious. He was not a smart person.

Start watching TheRealReal and Poshmark, she's going to start selling all of her clothes/shoes/bags

I honestly think for someone in her position the best bet is to blow out all her cash as bigly as possibly, fake the glamour some more, find another rich, older Jewish man (there are plenty in both Miami and NYC) and marry again. Paying off one's debt slowly and gradually is for middle class suckers. In the big money crowd they declare bankruptcy casually and with impunity, borrow money and grift until they find another jackpot. That's probably what she'll do and it's a lot smarter than moving to Wisconsin into a small suburban home, getting a job at the local dental office and paying off her debt in hundred dollar installments

Some designer is going to take pity on her and get her a "collab" -- wait for it, Mama & Tata is coming soon to Target or Crate & Kids or something like that. Women like her are grifters and they make it work. Don't feel bad for her.

Shoes and bags, yes. But she had most of her clothes tailored to fit her perfectly, so those are harder to sell. I can’t imagine how much that cost!

I also make a prediction she will re-marry as fast as she can snag a rich man. That is, if the authorities don't press charges against her and she has to go to jail instead.

The summer season is over for rentals. And she needs the cash now for the debts.

Many Hamptons renters lock up their rental for the forthcoming year by the end of the current summer season.

Our family has frequently done year -round Hamptons rentals and negotiated them in August-October.

Press charges? For what?

It's about integrity and values, but I understand that some people don't get that and think it's fine to bilk others.

Lighten up, youre on the entertainment forum.

Using other people's money to live in a 15 million dollar home and travel to Italy, etc when you have $8000 in the bank is not okay.

Press charges? For what?

Fraud. Stealing money from her friends.

I’m going to give her some grace. He was probably very deceptive with her and she has to mourn her lover and the fact that he left her and the daughters to deal with this mess. There will be rights to her story sold, she’ll have to in order to pay the debts off. I do t now why women are so judgemental and mean to other women. This could happen to any of us albeit on a much much smaller scale for myself! Prayers those girls adjust to their new lives.

And you know this how? You don’t know her involvement.

Not at all - I think everyone is missing the point that there were no assets. Literally none. Personal possessions as in clothes and a few watches but everything else is debt. You don’t need a will for that

Wow, I hadn't thought of it that way, but I think you're right. That's so incredible to me you could appear to be so wealthy but actually have nothing but debt to your name. If the PP is right 330k and a mortgaged to the hilt house is like solidly middle class in terms of assets.

I’m guessing his classic cars, couple of Rolexes, maybe some golf clubs? For a supposed “real estate mogul,” that’s nothing.

It’s just incredible how people can spend so much money and have nothing to show for it. This woman’s $800 weekly facials and wildly expensive fitness routine make her look and feel nice, sure. But where is the investment for your family’s future? Why not buy some non-luxury rental properties to get some steady passive income? The money was spent on living large but there’s nothing material to show for it.

And yet she will be fine. They lived like billionaires for years, a life of total luxury, and she will be 100% fine, remarry a rich guy. There is NO justice in this world. Honest women work all day, every day and will never know many of the pleasures and leisure she experienced.

I wouldn't trade my "regular" life with my husband and two adult kids for any part of that lifestyle. It sounds like pure HE ...LL to me to go to bed every night knowing that you were so far in debt, that your financial life was a sham, and that you were taking advantage of other people and their money.

I don't know how you even enjoy all this stuff knowing it's probably going to catch up to you one day. I'd be an anxious mess all the time, not exactly relaxing at an 800 dollar facial when there's 8k in the bank.

She probably didn’t know. He obviously did and was stressed, that’s why he killed himslef.

She might not have known every detail, but I doubt she was totally clueless. He had a long decline before killing himself, it would be hard to ignore that.

Anyone living in a $15 million home with that lifestyle when circumstances were that dire is either stupid, intentionally looking the other way, or dishonest.

Loans on it were 11.5m. Still plenty to work with for most people.

Just because she listed the house at $15mm doesn’t mean she’ll get it. Plus all his other debts, plus attorney fees, plus regular life expenses … she’s broke. She’s living on the charity of others.

She initially put it lower and then raised it to $15. 11.5 is just the total for the main mortgages, but there are other loans vs it. None of the proceeds from there are protected as it wasn’t her primary residence. She won’t see a dime from it. It also won’t get anywhere near the asking price as the neighboring property (which he had also developed) is on for less and is actually waterfront, which should make it at least a million, maybe $1.5 more.
