The Blind Side scandal

Takes a lot of gall to bend definitions and gaslight that they didn't REALLY mean "adopt." The entire narrative over the last 20 years and all of their fame, status and associated fortune they enjoyed from this is based on being white savior Christians who "adopted" an underclass Black kid (who just coincidentally was a 4-star football recruit they just coincidentally steered to the dad's alma mater). I don't care how rich they are, they are pathological lying trash and so is anyone defending them. The Memphis sub-reddit has tons of restaurant workers all chiming into say they are raging a-holes, especially the wife.

Marty Singer clients: folks like Charlie Sheen (who said MS ensures his clients get a "happy ending"), Bill Cosby, Jim Carrey, and now Lizzo. A lovely bunch. He's known for spin and suppressing unflattering stories. If they have nothing to hide, why hire him? Hmm.

The right thing being manipulating a talented homeless kid in going to your alma mater?

Seems like it worked out pretty well for him.

So we all should just shut up and ignore the fact that this was all one big lie and they led an 18 year old at risk kid astray. Wow, what great people they are.

I would agree with you but so far there is no lie. He knew about the conservatorship. He is lying now in his petition. You can’t put it your book a decade ago and now say you did not know.

Also how was he led astray? He did better at ole miss than he would have other places because they took care of him because of the family. When in college he got into a fight with a fellow player. During the fight Michael threw a desk or chair and it hit a toddler who was a kid of an assistant coach. Toddler was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Kid was ok. Ole miss coach got Sean. Sean paid a financial settlement to the assistant coach’s family. Sean also hired a lawyer who shot down the police investigation. Ole miss did not throw him out as they would have great player or not because of the book and the family. He was not led astray.

And he played nfl football and made millions for himself. Who knows what their motives were or why they were advised to do a conservativeship over adoption but there’s no reason to assume he’s a victim here.

You don't want him to be a victim. You'll bend your mind into knots to make that couple/family not be the problem.

Victim of what? His net worth is higher than their bio son. Does he help support SJ? They bailed him out of trouble and got him on a pretty lucrative nfl track, which they got no money from.

People lying to him and manipulating him for decades.

Just stop. This is a grown man. Not some little baby. Time to move on.

A grown man who’s $35 million richer thanks to them. Whatever their motives, he benefited too.

Where do you get off saying that his successful nfl career is due to the lying grifters? His being a talented athlete had nothing to do with them. If they hadn’t “adopted “ him he could have gone to a better college. All the grifters did was steer him to their college so they’d look like heroes for the school.

Seems pretty obvious the reason for the conservatorship was to steer a prized recruit to Ole Miss and avoid getting in trouble for it by the NCAA. Their scheme could have gotten the Ole Miss coach, university, and kid in serious trouble. They don't give a damn about this kid, they exploited him for their own gains. Then they do a book and movie that essentially characterizes him as special needs and act like the white savior mom taught him how to play football? The highly prized 4-star football recruit would be another loser jailbird were it not for the rich white saviors fake adopting him!

Do you have some fantasy about what life is like as a foster kid? What kind of high school did he attend while in foster care? Did that school even have a college counselor? You sound really naive about the realities that many kids deal with.

I agree with you. I think that this is a big part of why Michael brought forth a lawsuit. It really bothers him that the Tuohy's have continued to mislead people that he is their adopted son. I think he wants to know why they set up a conservatorship rather than an adoption. I really don't think you can argue that they haven't done this over the years. Look at speeches, websites, television appearances. Please show an instance where they explain that they are "conservators" rather than adoptive parents. Obviously (based on his 2011 book) he knew his legal agreement with them was called a conservatorship, but he states that they told him it was just like adoption, and he trusted them. When did he realize that conservatorship does not equal adoption? That is up for debate, and will come out in the court case I imagine. I am an educated person with a master's degree and knew nothing about conservatorships until the whole britanny spears thing, so, it doesn't boggle my mind that he didn't know exactly what a conservatorship meant, especially if they weren't really using it.

I have had dealings with the Touhy family (including Michael Oher) through their foundation.

My own thoughts:
* The Tuohy's and Michael Oher considered themselves to be a "family" up until at least 2016.
* The Tuohy's are your stereotypical rich, white, MAGA Christian republicans and the Trump years could not have been helpful for their relationship with Michael.
* Michael filed the court case to get an accounting of the conservatorship (which they should have been doing this entire time) and to find out why they chose to use a conservatorship rather than an adoption.

I agree with everything you said but Michael Oher is also very Christian and conservative. He follows Candace Owens on Instagram. I don’t think their politics is why he isn’t speaking to them. It’s solely based on how he was portrayed in the movie, any money they received for it directly and indirectly, and the fake adoption.

Hardly, but dummies like you sure enjoy his spin.

I adopted a young adult to make certain when I die all my children would be equal beneficiaries, no questions. I can’t fathom a conservatorship for any of my children adopted or biological. This family is corrupt. Perhaps liked Michael Oher, but they wanted control over the his money and everyone to know they are saviors. Disgusting.

So you're getting your excuses ready for when Michael's side doesn't win. Got it.

DP. You must not be a lawyer. Them prevailing wouldn’t even mean that what Michael is saying is necessarily untrue.

What are you even talking about? He was already at that private school playing football when he met the Touhys. A mechanic he was staying with got him into the school, they had absolutely nothing to do with where he went to high school and the quality of that school.

True, and the fact that they felt the need to hire a lawyer like Singer is such a tell.
