2028 Girls Lacrosse

Congrats to the Maryland teams who won the NGLL championships . 4 of the 6 championship games today were won by Maryland teams. And many others who didn’t go would have been competitive in the tournament. It is great to have such consistent talent to play against every week during the NGLL season.

100% fake news.

Came back here in May and July. Let’s see how this is “fake” news. Shocker but parents from other clubs talk with each other and some are actually friends. Wheels in motion. Choose not to believe it if you want

Agree. Coppermine 2028s came back from down 3-1 mid-second half against Eagle Stix for the 4-3 win. Good to see them slay the dragon as they have been consistently beating everyone else.

DMV teams (Pride and Stars) would have beaten or been very competitive with 5 of the 8 regional champs. Lucky to be in Mid Atlantic to get to play the best.

Pride maybe, Stars no way.

Stars could easily have hung with most of these so called regional “champions”. NGLL is a joke with the format right now. When Midatlantic with countless teams in top 25 only send one team something is wrong with system. You then have teams with no business being at this tourney getting smoked.

The point of a National Championship is to give everyone a shot at it. No this competition is not as good as mid Atlantic but all mid Atlantic teams had their shot.

Interesting analysis on the Age Verification thread about 2029s getting pushed up to the 2028 level.

I think the DMV clubs would benefit if they applied the rule to 2028s as well. Just using the eye test, when you look at Coppermine, Eagle Stix, or M&D, there have to be some girls on those rosters older than the 15 month window for 2028s under the new USA lacrosse guidelines.

Applying it to the 2028s at this point doesn't really make sense because they are so close to HS. Once in HS kids need to be playing with their grad class for recruiting purposes.

You would be surprised, the MD teams do not have nearly as many "hold backs" as people claim. They may have a lot of older girls based on birthday but they are still within the 15 month window. There is maybe 1 per team that doesn't fit that regulation. Girls with September, October and November birthdays aren't hold backs they are just older because they missed the kindergarten cut off date.

Yes, this has been discussed on the MD boards. A June 1st cut off will not really have any impact. At the 2028 age group only Hero's has girls that would no longer be able to play but it won't matter because this age group is not impacted. I do think some 2029 Coppermine girls would be impacted which might impact girls on the borderline of the 2022 team.

Should say on the current 2028 team if they need extra roster spots

Most of what people perceive as "holdbacks" are in fact just older players with Fall birthdays who missed the School cut off age. Right now at this age, 8-10 months older makes a huge difference but in a year or 2, it will all balance out. There are very few true holdbacks on all the Top teams.

Just checked TSIC app. Yikes. Tough weekend for DMV. No wonder nobody answered this one...

Did Pride forfeit their 1st game? 10-1 is sometimes the forfeit score, and they typically don’t lose that big.
