First, and let's start here...it was not as good as an ECNL event, any ECNL event. Hard stop. An ECNL event, any ECNL event, would have been better in terms of total numbers of coaches, number of D1's, any other conceivable metric, ECNL would have been better. That said...1. Who cares? 2. The recruiting sidelines this past week/end at the GA Spring Showcase was really strong. Lots of P4's and G5 D1's, US Soccer was there, lots of D2's and D3's also. As good as an ECNL event...no, really strong and ample opportunity for anyone who wants to play college soccer...absolutely. Better than an RL event, absolutely. Looking forward to an even better turnout this summer for playoffs. That's about as honest and objective as I can be. |
| Lmao!!! Ga flat out lying. Last year posted on their NC showcase site, 56 D1’s attended, now posted on their NC showcase site for this year 59 D1’s… that’s an increase of 2. 50%?? Yeah right but they know the followers are too dumb to check. Keep cutting them checks so they dont go bankrupt |
Cause they know people are too dumb to go check that they are lying. If you comment it on it with facts/actual numbers on their instagram they block you |
Keep cutting the check to your bottom ECNL club - but at least you can show the badge and brag about all the D1 commits that the top 30 clubs get that the rest of ECNL hangs their hat on. |
You had no issue with RL doing what they did and it wasn't even close |
That’s because they can’t actually compete with ECNL so it’s easy to say we aren’t going to do this when you don’t have data to help your side. Just stick your head in the ground and maybe it will go away is the GA approach. |
You can’t go by the number of colleges that registered their attendance on the websites. The actual numbers are always completely different. For ECNL and GA. |
At least ECNL families can brag about having kids play at the top youth level. GA is trash and will only get worse as time goes on. Unless NWSL decided to get involved. |
I think this might actually be the high-water mark for ECNL. It’s not just about league branding anymore. GA has stabilized, especially with the support and alignment coming from MLS Next. That infrastructure has made a difference. ECNL won’t fall off a cliff, but the idea that it’s the unquestioned “top of the pyramid” feels a lot less certain. Clubs are proving you can develop elite players and get the same outcomes outside of that badge. Feels less like dominance going forward and more like fragmentation at the top. |
| I hope ECNL stops trying to be a boys league and sells out to MLSN would make it better if ECNL ran girls soccer |
You say the same thing every spring and its never true. ECRL can never be better than GA no mater how many times you say it. This is because GA teams are clubs first team and the one they put all their resources behind. ECRL are clubs second team and they get all the ECNL leftovers. |
The top clubs can - the middle to bottom is no different than GA. |
Not sure how much you've kept up, but many clubs now have RL as their top team. |
because they took the old USYS NL clubs ... and the first team RL clubs are the better RL clubs ... just like the first team Aspire clubs are the better Aspire club. Before my DD switched to a GA club, her USYS team beat low level ECNL clubs all the time (actually never lost to them) and they crushed RL clubs. but they were a first team club stuck in USYS and club wasn't big enough to get into the other leagues - tried numerous times (and had 3 of the 6 age groups qualify for Nationals in USYS). |
High level GA teams at the national level join ECNL and are middle of the pack. It’s not close stop trying so hard to make GA sound awesome. It’s for those who can’t make it with the big dogs. |
