It does not matter what he was mad about - point being, how would you like to live next to a hair trigger guy like this? No wonder his neighbors turned him in - he's a tool. |
+1 Let me guess, he is the head of "neighborhood watch".... |
DP, it absolutely belongs here. The speedy mcspeedersons on trails are menaces. And while most likely won't get violent, they're still aggressive jerks. And the underling behavior of those guys isn't different than this guy. |
As a taxpayer, I would have absolutely no problem with that. Someone like this does not change for the better overnight, if at all. |
+1 |
So first, you're conflating the entire category of people who ride bikes with the subgroup of middle-aged men in Lycra who ride bikes too damn fast on trails. And second, yes, the behavior of middle-aged men in Lycra who ride bikes too damn fast on trails actually is different from the behavior of a sixty-year-old man in Lycra who assaults college kids with his bike for putting up BLM signs. |
Indeed. |
The WTOP story states that he couldn't find a pastor at his own church, so he decided to pass by Holy Redeemer instead. (It would have been great if he had talked to the Nigerian priest there). Anyway, he couldn't have been a parishioner at Holy Redeemer. Regardless of where he is a parishioner, as a fellow Catholic, I am glad that he wanted to see a priest. This guy knows that his life in Kensington is ruined. His job and his reputation are lost. I do think that he knows that he did wrong. I know a few people with anger management problems and they know when they have lost it. What he did is wrong and I do hope that he gets the help that he is now seeking. Yes, he deserves punishment, too. |
The anger/aggressiveness is in the same vein. |
Love the detail that he called the kids a deviant.
Psychological projection: a psychological defense mechanism where a person subconsciously denies his or her own attributes, thoughts, and emotions, which are then ascribed to the outside world, usually to other people. |
+1 Thank you. |
What does “someone like that mean”? Someone who commits a simple assault, or someone who commits simple assault while espousing conservative viewpoints? You really would not want anyone who commits simple assault to serve 10 years. Without priors, most people would and should serve little if any time. If you want him to serve more because he dislikes BLM, that thankfully isn’t how are system works and, it would be dangerous for everyone, including you, if it did work that way. |
+1 You are truly my hero, sir or ma'am. I thank you, on behalf of anyone that has ever been in your shoes. I am certain you more than paid your dues living near an pompous, arrogant, know-it-all jerk like this. May your neighborhood be even slightly more peaceful, with his presence publicly called out - as it likely should have been, long ago. May this happen more often. |
I don't think that the anger/aggressiveness of affluent middle-aged white men is bicycle-specific. |
It has nothing to do with politics, though you may want it to - this man is hair trigger, and should not be around most people. |
