| Total outsider. But I am reading the fact that the school let in too many athletes as code for they let in too many black students. Just sayin. |
| You are reading too much into it!!! It is a diverse school and that was part of the appeal. Not not athletes are black. Just sayin............... |
| It irks me that folks say that people should leave Bullis because the W schools and such are much better. Not every student at the school lives within those school boundaries. Many are getting the type of education they wouldn’t get within their local school. People will stay because, comparatively speaking and outside of DCUM standards, it’s a good school. If it failed your child, I hope you moved on to a school that was a better fit. But there does not seem to be a rush for the door, despite what some here want to tell us. |
+1, even at a W school it may not be the best fit for your child. If Bullis were not os expensive we'd consider it. Its one of the few non-religious co-ed schools in the area. |
| Thank you PP’s. We are seriously considering Bullis for a lot of reasons (despite being located in a “great” MCPS cluster) and it really bothers me reading the polarizing reviews of the school. I get that there is room for improvement but it also seems to have a lot of great qualities. Really appreciate the honest, unbiased perspectives. |
Go look at it and talk to current parents. All schools have room for improvement. We were at a private for a few years that got terrible reviews online. It was great for my child. Most people who post are unhappy, not happy and that goes for most things. Every school is going to have their issues. |
| No school is perfect. But no school get the criticism like Bullis. Smoke=Fire. |
While the criticisms are far different, GDS is also a school with incredibly mixed reviews and community regard where many families simply drop it from consideration. |
| i know one kid who went to Bullis for high school and that kid is now at an Ivy League college. |
I genuinely don’t understand why anyone would be “bitter” about a school that begs for applicants. Can someone explain this? |
This is satire, right? |
it made me laugh! |
If they were more affordable, they'd probably get more applicants. We would apply. There really aren't any other schools that are larger schools, not religious and co-ed. All things important to us. And, if they push sports, that is good for us as we have a child in team sports but not a sport at Bullis so they might be a bit more flexible. Every school has unhappy families. Even the Big 3 have unhappy families. Some schools threaten families not to talk and those schools concern me far more than schools where the issues are discussed. There is no real best school for everyone. The best school is the good fit for your child and most importantly where your child is happy. Not all kids can be top students and that's ok. All kids deserve a school that is best for them. Reality is from the Big 3, not that many go on to Ivy's and the more competition is not always a good thing. |
