Ask the coaches.

Definitely matters less.

Disagree.

The smaller kids can’t handle the larger field going against giants. Their little legs can’t catch ground. In general, smaller kids do better in tight spaces than they will on a big field.

Speed and stamina aren’t related to size. Smaller, more technical kids get pushed off the ball on smaller fields. On bigger fields they have more space to work with.

Unlike Loudoun and McLean, Arlington was not even in the top bracket.

Arlington being in the second bracket at WAGS is still better than being in the top bracket for Discovery

I hope you’re right about this as my DD has skills but gets pushed off the ball by giants. She’s also a little intimidated by these giants too.

Sure, it is definitely better. Arlington must be happy about getting a tie against a team that is outside the top 1000 rankings nationally and an another tie against Top Hat's C team that is unranked. Oh, and they got beat by VSA team. Keep telling yourself that that your team faced elite competition.

Clearly the best team in Va.

The best players on that team also plays for FutsalRVA. Just remember that before you start bragging how good the puma futsal team is this winter.

One of those 08s has played a DA game with their 06s, based on the game reports. No chance they drop her down.

I was able to watch this player this weekend as my DD had games at the same location on one of the days. She didn’t stand out by any means with the 07 team. Looked disinterested at times and wasn’t really involved in the game. You are probably correct in saying she won’t be moved down though as her parents are doing the social media for FCV along with Bobby & Crew.

The 08s on that team have faded. Things change at U13.

Is going from U12 to U13 with 2 more players and a bigger pitch make that much difference on how the 2008G teams will play? Wouldn’t bigger and faster kids still dominate with more space? I understand endurance is a big factor.

It becomes more of a passing game than it is a running game. Kids who like to dribble and run 40 yards to score on the rush find that at 11v11 against good teams that is no longer an option.

Thank you. So I that I understand better, for U13, passing skills, spatial awareness and positioning will be key.

Yes and then if those things are matched with athleticism then you have a special player.

Many of the athletic kids are not challenged early enough to develop their skills and spatial awareness in ways that allow them to solve problem their athleticism cant solve. But some kids are also simply athletic freaks who will always stand out in youth soccer. Those kids may never truly struggle until college.

I'm not sure if the FCV playups are athletic freaks. It is likely that if they are not also smart players then they will remain solid and very, very good players but will not be special at a DA level playing up.

There are also players who are freaks in terms of their spatial abilities and foot skills. They just get the ball to the right player at the right time with the right pace. They are like an assistant machine. They make everyone around them better but they usually need more technical players around them to really take off. So under u13 they are really good players but may not seem like the typical super aggressive top team travel player. I think they think too much or see the field differently vs other players and can get frustrated under u13.

I remember one girl would get down after a game she played well in. So I talked to her. She was...frustrated/down because she would make passes to other players who she thought should make the next pass for an easy goal opportunity. The other players would dribble and the opportunity was lost.
