| SCAA is having tryouts tonight if you want an option for a smaller club in the area. |
Inevitable and a part of the landscape. You either accept being a bubble where you are or look for another situation. |
Drama is only at the parent level. Kids go out an play regardless. |
Pretty sure that was a joke. At least I hope so. If not... From prior experience if you are on blue and they want you back you find out instantly. If you are on orange, you find out 2/3 days after blue. If you are on white or black, don't hold your breath. That can take up to a week. |
Agreed. Parent drama unfortunately bleeds down to the kids at their expense. Hopefully this can all just settle down and everybody find a club, have fun, and play the game. |
There are great coaches and great kids at both clubs and in all the surrounding clubs. Find your fit and and find your joy back people. |
| SYC’s been giving out free washing machines to lure players? |
No each player gets a year lease on a new car. The coaches will drive the car of players too young to drive. The parent will still have to pay insurance, gas and other expenses. It’s a great deal! |
Some LMVSC players coming over received offers immediately at the conclusion of the 1st day of try outs. ON THE FIELD. Not a joke. |
Were they that much better then other lower blue team or top orange players to get an immediate offer? Wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a way to destabilize the other club. I'm not sure how that would make me feel if that had happened at my age group. |
It's hard to believe that they were that good that the coaches couldn't wait until day 2 or even day 3 of try outs. How is that fair to SYC players? They're taking slots and the coaches have only seen the SYC players for maybe 1 day. LMVSC weren't the only players to get immediate offers. I have yet to hear any SYC players at the younger age groups receive an offer, but so far I know of 4 LMVSC players and a BRYC player. I believe they're trying to get ahead of the other club try outs. |
| Would any one care to share what age groups are receiving offers on the field? |
Tupy's U10 & U11 teams. |
I know a handful of players from one team at LMV that attended an SYC's tryout, and each of them received an offer after the first day. A couple of them are very good, but the rest are average players. This may be the downside of taking a bunch of coaches from a neighboring club. They know the players at their current club far better than the established players at their new club. |
Thanks for the info. I am SHOCKED because Este promised fair and unbiased evaluations as part of the tryout process.
Sarcasm aside, my younger DS was with SYC and I am very glad that we decided to go elsewhere for the 2019/2020. If the LMVSC players are legitimately better, then fine - offer them the top spots. But I think that at a bare minimum SYC should be allowing the full three days of tryouts to pass before making offers. Especially as they are not overly familiar with the SYC players. |
