Many former top team players were notified last week by SYC to attend the Braddock Road try outs due to the new LMVSC teams coming in there will be no room for them.
Wow
Pretty sure that was a joke. At least I hope so. If not... From prior experience if you are on blue and they want you back you find out instantly. If you are on orange, you find out 2/3 days after blue. If you are on white or black, don't hold your breath. That can take up to a week.
Some LMVSC players coming over received offers immediately at the conclusion of the 1st day of try outs. ON THE FIELD. Not a joke.
Were they that much better then other lower blue team or top orange players to get an immediate offer? Wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a way to destabilize the other club. I'm not sure how that would make me feel if that had happened at my age group.
It's hard to believe that they were that good that the coaches couldn't wait until day 2 or even day 3 of try outs. How is that fair to SYC players? They're taking slots and the coaches have only seen the SYC players for maybe 1 day. LMVSC weren't the only players to get immediate offers. I have yet to hear any SYC players at the younger age groups receive an offer, but so far I know of 4 LMVSC players and a BRYC player. I believe they're trying to get ahead of the other club try outs.
I know a handful of players from one team at LMV that attended an SYC's tryout, and each of them received an offer after the first day. A couple of them are very good, but the rest are average players. This may be the downside of taking a bunch of coaches from a neighboring club. They know the players at their current club far better than the established players at their new club.
