Just because a person goes to school (HS or college), it doesn’t make them great students. In order to develop and be a great student, they have to focus, study and do their homeworks to get good grades. This is true with soccer too.

Yes, that's very true. Great players work outside of practice to become better.
It also helps if they are in the right environment, it's not one size fits all and what's good for one kid is not good for another.
But, not every coach is good teacher, not every coach emphasizes personal development, and not every club is looking to provide a consistent growth path for its players.
Caveat Emptor!

While I agree with you, it’s easier said than done in regards to Caveat Emptor. It’s not easy to determine if the environment and coach is a good fit through a tryout, looking up the coach’s license, or even attending 1-2 practices. Any hint you can share would be very beneficial.

I agree with everything you said. That's why people should have no problem changing clubs until they find the right fit.
It's a fine line to make sure the change is happening for the right reason, but its your money and your child and you should be
happy with the choice.

Agreed but a child potentially looses a year of good development and we loose roughly $2K.

No you're not.

Bryc 04 and 05 have poor standings in an extremely weak division.

Sigh. Another useless parent generalization.

Not sure how that's a generalization based on last years performance. Are they "rebuilding" by not bringing back last years players and bringing in a new 11. So is this another recruitment vs development club to discuss?

--------------------------------------------------------

Girls ECNL Director took the 04s so anybody who cant going to help him win games is or will be gone.
The 04 team will be a better soccer team because everyone knows he wont tolerate losing and will continue to seek out players
from where ever he needs to so that he can win

His teams play some of the best soccer in this area for sure. Training is top level.

If Spirit continues along their path, he might not need to recruit.

He has one good team, the 03s. And they finished 3rd in their bracket at Nationals.

The 04s are a new team for him but have been weak. This will be a real test to see if his coaching techniques of screaming and belittling can produce results from a less talented group. If any parent wants to move their kid to that after Spirit, they made the wrong choice to join Spirit in the first place, which has never pretended to be a “win at any costs” type of club.

The 02 team he took over went from 10th in CCL to 3rd in the mid Atlantic conference in ECNL and qualified for nationals. My kid plays on that team and every player on that team has improved so much. The difference a year with this coach has made with the 02 team is staggering. My daughter has never been belittled and as I have said on this forum before my kid and her coach have a very good relationship. I think finishing 3rd in an ECNL conference means you are a good team? It would be nice if you could stop dragging young players and coaches that you clearly know very little about.

There is a reason some of best soccer players in the area at 03 and now 02 are joining BRYC. Players want to play for this coach, they are pushed hard but become high level soccer players and will be recruited.

Sounds to me like you are recruiting when you claim you don't need to.

So you’re giving him the credit for the team’s improvement when it was really just because some good players came over for the ECNL badge? Are you honestly suggesting they came for him?

My daughter joined last year and is 2 or 3 times better than when she joined, the training is really great.
