Are BRYC teams just unlucky? What’s the deal with the 04s and 05s? Should they be holding open tryouts rather than just invite only?

They have open tryouts now. All you do is email the DOC and they invite you to training. Thats about as open as you can get.

To my mind, those are closed, Perhaps have 2 sessions in may like most others, so that what happens at every other training session doesnt get the chance to happen so early (networking gossip back to your team and coach). Just a thought... Is the BRYC coach still really paying attention and developing your DC while they are trying to evaluate other players for the upcoming season?

what about the the other 2 questions? just unlucky? are there interesting issues with those 2 age groups?

04s have been a little bit unlucky and a little bit inconsistent. Would not be surprised to see them finish closer to 4th/5th by the end of season.

04s should go to Spirit and build for the future.

Thanks but no thanks. In good hands at BRYC

No you're not.

Bryc 04 and 05 have poor standings in an extremely weak division.

Sigh. Another useless parent generalization.

Not sure how that's a generalization based on last years performance. Are they "rebuilding" by not bringing back last years players and bringing in a new 11. So is this another recruitment vs development club to discuss?

The generalization is that BRYC's ability to develop players/teams is entirely dependent on the perceived quality of the division.

I’ve noticed parents complain & blame the lack of development on the various clubs and coaches. While there’s blame there, it could also be your DD or DS.

Just because a person goes to school (HS or college), it doesn’t make them great students. In order to develop and be a great student, they have to focus, study and do their homeworks to get good grades. This is true with soccer too.

It is what it is. It's cool if you find it useless. No skin off my back.

I stand by my statement.

The mid atlantic division in ECNL is weak. To be in last place or 2nd to last is concerning. That type of performance will cause an exodus.9th grade girls have college on their minds. They will find an alternative if BRYC doesn't right the ship down the road.

Peace.

Well, whether justified or not, I agree that regular ass beatings generally result in an exodus in today's youth soccer world. Moving away from BRYC though, would you expect the same exodus from Spirit if they continue to finish near the bottom of that group? One can argue that the mid-atlantic division is one of the weaker divisions in GDA as well. Or will the cachet of being in the top league help retain them?

I don't plan on leaving Spirit because it isn't about results for us. The training is great and there are lots of opportunities to play up for challenges, as appropriate. We have kids playing two age groups up to challenge them. Players get ample playing time. The match results just really don't matter when you're focused on individual player development.

--------------------------------------------------------

Girls ECNL Director took the 04s so anybody who cant going to help him win games is or will be gone.
The 04 team will be a better soccer team because everyone knows he wont tolerate losing and will continue to seek out players
from where ever he needs to so that he can win.

Anyone who knows him knows he will play down certain players (04s from the 03 team) to try to win certain games. It is all about winning and nothing about development.

So what will the 03s do? Be DA next year but age out the next? Then rejoin again?

Same goes with coaches.

Yes, that's very true. Great players work outside of practice to become better.
It also helps if they are in the right environment, it's not one size fits all and what's good for one kid is not good for another.
But, not every coach is good teacher, not every coach emphasizes personal development, and not every club is looking to provide a consistent growth path for its players.
Caveat Emptor!
