Duggar son allegedly molested girls including sisters

The issue with breaking free is who is there to teach th how life works outside of Jim Bob's roost? They fall right into the arms of those looking to make a quick buck off a famous person. There is no win-win at this point.

I don't care for them, their parenting, their fame-whoring or their fundamentalist religious practices. You can support the rights of the victims without defending the choices of Josh, Michelle and Jim Bob.

I believe making this national news will have a negative effect on Josh Duggar's victims and on any other victims who will see this and decide not to take the risk of coming forward. This is about the fundamental aspects of violation that come with being a victim of sexual assault. Rape culture is a separate issue.

These victims never came forward, and never would have. But if the publicity convinces any of them, or other girls in their situation, that they are victims instead of to blame, then that's positive. As it is, they've been told for years that any sort of sexual molestation is both their fault and reduces their purity. And boys are told that seeing a girl or woman takes away any self-control they may have.

That's not how privacy works. You don't get to decide for them when to go public or how they should feel about it, or if it's for the greater good. Educate yourself, please.

The records were legitimately requested, and then were legitimately requested to be destroyed. Now we are discussing them. That's how the internet works.

And the people talking about his upbringing have made this distinction several times. You sound like you cannot follow along.

Wasn't that photo showing the preparation for Jill's wedding?

Don't use logic when people want to hate, it just makes them cranky.

You honestly can't unfuck this fucked up situation.

I don't think there is a way for this to have gone down that is a good ending.

I just wish this family was stopped before they subjected their kids to the public scrutiny.

Since people keep repeating this clearly the point also needs to be repeated. Hope that helps you follow along.

It's not Josh's loss of privacy that was concerning to me. It was the loss of privacy for the very young victims. Maybe you've never been sexually assaulted, but I can assure you seeing it on the national news is not a step towards healing. I do not believe it was made public out of concern for the safety of others.

You are wrong. These girls have NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF and implying that their privacy is more important than the molester facing consequences is exactly what perpetuates this type of abuse and exactly how the family kept it private. Further it is my bope that their loss of privacy may protect Josh's children and others since this pattern of behavior does not go way and is compulsive.

If I were one of the girls, I'd air it publicly as loudly as possible!

I wish they would have stopped having kids (potential molestation victims) and focused on healing their damaged children

I wonder if this will wake any of these mega families up and realize their children are basically feral and raising themselves.

If Jill and Jessa were victims, they probably never had a chance to tell their husbands (or anyone else really, like a confidant) since they are always supervised, chaperoned, and never alone.

Not that they should HAVE to tell their husbands, but they probably never had the choice. I feel so badly for those girls.

They violated the victims of this mess by not providing them with any support and by not protecting them from their abuser. They violated josh by sending him to some bogus labor camp instead of getting him the help he desperately needed. They violated their other children by not reporting these incidents to the proper authorities and protecting all of them.

Meanwhile, they've been parading themselves on television and further exploiting their children. They are on your tv screen acting like this wholesome, Jesus loving family that we should all aspire to be. Also in the background, they are actively working to discriminate against others - particularly LGBT individuals, whom the Duggars describe as sexual deviants endangering children everywhere.

What has this family done that is so admirable? I believe I'm paraphrasing Jesus here - it's not enough to talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk and do good onto others.

I do not feel bad for Jim Bob or Michelle. Absolutely not. I'm not sure about Josh. He was obviously incredibly messed up, and going to work with a friend building houses wouldn't have done anything to change/help that.

I do feel bad for the rest of them. Paraded in front of tv cameras, having to smile and appear to be happy no matter what else was going on. I'm beginning to think shows like this involving young kids shouldn't be made into a regular series. A special if there's something actually special, ok. But not ongoing.

That's not the point. The point is that they have been posing as holier-than-thou warriors of Christ who have the gall to use their fame to promote discriminatory policies that interfere with other people's lives, to put it mildly. It's because of people like them that gay kids commit suicide at four times the rate of heterosexual kids and that the Matthew Shephards of this world get strung up on barbed wire to die like pigs at a butcher's stall.
It's high time they were publicly crucified (pun intended) for this malfeasance considering their hypocrisy.

Well said, PP.

Since this involved all minors I think whoever leaked this information is a horrible person.

No one "leaked" the report. It was obtained legally and ethically with a request via the Freedom of Information Request. Media requested it. The police willingly gave it.

I hope this offers some degree of protection for the children in the family, and that some of them will be able to escape if they wish.
