As someone said, definitely go ask to attend a practice or two ahead of tryouts at the clubs you're interested in. The coaches will take note of whether your player seems like a good fit with the existing group. Theoretically all of the teams will be looking for more players with the best couple girls going to GA or ECNL and the rosters expanding a bit. The question will be whether they move girls up from the second team or take outside players. Maybe poke around the NCSL website to get an idea of how strong the second teams are in the age group. If second team is strong, the coaches might have a few girls already have in mind to move up. If there's a big drop off from first to second team, there are probably more opportunities. |
No, they haven’t had tryouts for most RL and Aspire teams. You have plenty time to tryout. Reach out to the age group directors for the teams you are interested in to see if they can take a look before formal tryouts. Good luck to your DD. |
Most clubs with GA had tryouts to fill both teams. |
| Any FVU, Arlington or VDA offers out post tryouts? |
yup. Keep hitting refresh in that inbox |
Thanks to everyone's responses! Good suggestions and I'll start reading out now. Hope everyone has a great spring season. |
This person is lying. Reach out tomorrow to clubs you're looking at and go ID now. They are currently filling rosters before tryouts start for RL and many Aspire teams have already done invite only tryouts. |
Has anyone gotten an invite from BP for the final tryouts yet? The email said it would be invite-only, but I haven’t heard anything back. |
Nothing yet but wasn’t expecting until today. |
I suspect their team was already determined prior to tryouts. Probably nobody getting an invite. |
I got the email last night |
Are you internal or external? |
External |
I thought it was interesting how they were encouraging playing for one of their feeder teams to be “seen”. Do they mostly recruit from PWSI and VSA? So many stronger teams to choose from in the DMV, why would they dismiss those players? |
What i generally noticed in the past, is they pick the strongest external players without much regard to those partnerships. Having 'feeder clubs' just ensures they get to look at kids from a few different clubs. Those clubs do serve as a funnel for their tryouts. But, if someone who comes from a stronger team comes along, they would take them over a weaker club affiliate player. |
