Kind of.

Shooter was mentally ill, not clear the extent to which motive was political, if at all (he had apparently posted online in support of Palestinian resistance). Very different facts than the DC case.

Also worth noting that this did receive substantial national media attention (multiple long form NYT articles, for example), though certainly not the same level of coverage as the DC shootings.

This case (appropriately) got a lot of attention, it was horrifying. I will say, though, I didn't immediately recognize their names here — though for what it's worth I also don't really remember the names of the people killed in D.C. Wednesday night, even as we're discussing the case.

This is a you problem. I don’t recognize the names but this shooting got a LOT of coverage at the time even though the victims survived. The attorney general didn’t show up at the scene, though.

That story just seems super weird. For one, no one died, thankfully. But also, the shooter claimed he killed the victims (he didn’t), everyone involved was Jewish, and the victims posted wild Islamophobic remarks afterwards, apparently incorrectly thinking the shooter was attacking them for being Jewish.

I also don’t really care about the outcome of a convoluted situation like that; everyone involved appears to be deranged, though I’m glad no one was killed.
