I suspect those are troll posts.

From my talks with other parents most are happy with the restoration of the prior regime and coaching staff. With the absence of any information justifying the abrupt regime change and disruption, most folks seem skeptical it was warranted and, while not happy about the month of chaos, look forward to more stability going forward.

Girls 2012s is going from 3 full teams to possibly 1.

Fake news alert!

They went from 3 to 2, which most girls age groups only have 2 at GFR as they get older.

Not fake news. An entire team left for LE and not enough girls came to the tryouts to even have a 3rd team. It might be one team with a large roster but will be tough to have 2.

Which age group?

Whats LE?

This happens every year in a couple of age groups. For every person that tells you their entire team is leaving you’ll have dozens that tell you differently. This is the most consistency we’ve seen ever for our children at GFR.

OH.

There are currently 3 full 2012 teams for 2024-25. Only about 35-36 girls showed up for 2025-26 tryouts and almost half of those girls did not accept their offers and went to LE or elsewhere.

They have an ECRL team, and their white team plays in NCSL. What is the third team?

Their 3rd team was the former DMV team that plays in EDP but some play on the RL team. It’s a strong team and above white.

Don’t see that they ever planned for a 2012g team. Coaching slate only has ECNL-RL and NCSL listed. The color orders are blue, white, green. Maybe it’s some sort of affiliated team?

The 3rd 2012G team joined two years ago when DMV merged with GFR. They’ve had 3 teams for the past seasons. They are losing one if not two teams for next season. The RL (top) team has done well this season and most are staying.

Has everyone yet seen the Fairfax County Civil Case (requesting a jury trial) brought against Richard Shelton (GFR Exec Director) this week?

As part of remedies, the plaintiff seeks:

"Plaintiff seeks an order requiring a full, independent forensic audit and financial review of GFR operations from 2021 to present, including but not limited to:
a. All compensation, reimbursements, and financial benefits received by
Richard Shelton, directly or indirectly;
b. All transactions, payments, or agreements involving:
i. Total Futbol and its principal(s), including the $446,000 unapproved
contract;
ii. NVU (Northern Virginia United) and its leadership;
iii. compensation discussions or payment and access to GFR’s financial data provided to unauthorized individuals;
iv. Loudoun NVA and Futsal clinics, where funds were diverted to Shelton’s personal PayPal account;
v. Sterling Soccer and any related merger or affiliation efforts; or personal payments made to Shelton;
c. All unauthorized personal uses of GFR financial instruments, including
credit cards, PayPal, and Venmo;
d. All settlements and severance payouts, paid to any former employees; and
e. The use of GFR’s FEIN, name, and brand by external entities without Board approval." (Note:he leased a car in GFR's name without Board knowledge or approval)

The suit is public information, filed with the County and a necessary read. It's quite damning against RS, and if true, is a complete breach of both law and fiduciary responsibilities.

I can believe something shady went down with NVU.
NVU was allowed to play under GFR to get access to NCSL league and turf field space for games and practices. Field space at GFR is super tight, many games/practices for GFR teams are played on grass.
