Confirmation that he is renting a space at 1001 King St, right above Bluprint Chocolatiers. This is disguising, appalling, and I hope my neighbors in Old Town will make sure this hatred does not breed. That said, I really hope the folks at Bluprint do not suffer consequences - they are good people who make delicious, delicate, and artful chocolates. Interestingly, I looked up the property owner (public record) - and the owner appears to be Pakistani (or Pakistani-American). Likely did not know what kind of scumbag he was renting to. |
| It's really offensive to assume that someone is ignorant because of his national origin. |
OP here - I'm of Indo-Pakistani decent myself. If the owner wasn't "ignorant," and knew what kind of hateful vermin he was renting to, then that's worse. To assume he did not know, is an assumption in his favor. |
Your ancestry is irrelevant. How about we just don't make assumptions about people? |
You are so right. The neo-nazi Richard Spencer might just be opening up a new cupcake or Fro-Yo shop above the chocolate shop? I mean who knows? |
| What did he say that was so offensive? |
| I never liked alexabdria |
Following are some quotes from Spencer’s latest speech at Texas A&M: “At the end of the day, America belongs to white men.” “You’re part of a bigger extended family, and that race has a story to tell. It’s a people and a blood and a place on the map.” “Whether it was nice or not, and I’m not going to deny there was a lot of brutality that went along with it, we won,” Spencer reportedly said about civilizations built by Europeans, which according to him are eventually put in danger when their fundamental racial identity is lost. “Race is real. Race matters. Race is the foundation of identity.” “Trump was the first step toward white identity politics in the United States. He is not going to be the last. The alt-right is a new beginning.” |
| Why is Bluprint not doing something about this? It's almost like they are condoning it. |
They probably don't own the building and have no choice. What would you have them do? Go out of business? |
No it is not. Not at all. Not even remotely like they are condoning it. They rent space in a building, so does Spencer. |
| You can't discriminate against a tenant because you don't like their beliefs. |
Sure you can! |
Are you responsible for the nutcase things your neighbors say and do? They share a landlord - Bluprint is not connected to this racist bigot. Please, please support them. They are a good local business, they make really great chocolate, and should be strongly supported. I am not connected to Bluprint - just a customer. But I HIGHLY doubt the owners want anything to do with this nazi POS or what he stands for. |
You absolutely can. Being an outspoken white supremacist is not a protected class. |
