This post had me laughing:
https://www.reddit.com/r/TalesFromTheFrontDesk/comments/5c281c/prepaid_nonrefundable_nontransferable_still_means/ How entitled do you have to be to have a tantrum to the front desk person because your candidate didn't win? And, if you feel so strongly about not attending the inauguration if the other candidate wins, why oh why would you book the hotel before the actual election? People are funny. |
|
Funny. This isn't partisan though - people are just dumb.
Also he's totally exaggerating the sold out part. I'm in Loudoun (25 miles away) and the hotels near me are not sold out, nor are my neighbors AirBNB-nig their homes. 100 miles away is Richmond FFS. Also not sold out. |
| Other than the Trump hotel, nothing is close to selling out. This will be a very lightly attended inaugural, and the parties and balls will be sparse as well. Except for the few seven figure events. |
|
meh. Hotels get this all the time. This person just wants to make it look like only dems can be this stupid. If you don't have much experience booking trips, I can see where you might get confused. You might not expect cancellation policy to change from one room to the next at the same hotel.
Op, they booked their trip well in advance to ensure availability and good rates. I almost booked a trip several months ago to see Hillarys inauguration. But I had a backup plan. |
Hmm! I am familiar with Loudoun County and who in their right minds would want to stay there when attending the inauguration. Not knocking LC - but really it is not a place where I'd want to stay for events in DC that I am attending as a visitor. |
Sure.
|
Even Trumps rubes don't want to be in Loudoun County. Didn't they tell you about the commute at the sales trailer? |
Normally true, but for the 2008 inaugural, people were staying in Baltimore, Hagerstown and Loudoun for the Inaugural. |
That's the point. People aren't excited enough to figure out the 25 mile commute to see his inauguration. I most certainly would have taken a room in LC to see HRC's inauguration if there was nothing available closer in or if the rooms were much cheaper. |
| Trump voters have jobs. |
PP you're quoting. Did you READ the link? The OP of the Reddit post said hotels are sold out for 100 miles. I'm calling BS. |
My husband is a tech contractor. We live out near Loudoun in Great Falls. Only one of his jobs has been in Arlington, and he chose it because it was directly on the metro line, and he could work from home at least three days per week. Other than that, his jobs have been in Western FFX county or in Loudoun county. What commute? |
|
From the link in the OP:
The hotel is sold out, the city is sold out, the surrounding cities for 100 miles are sold out. People are selling sofa-space on AirBNB for $200 a night, and THEY're sold out. |
| ^^^^^My point is he could be making the whole post up. Hotels in Richmond (100 miles away) are not sold out for the inauguration. Lol. |
You are sooooo funny! DH works 4 miles from home in Reston and I don't work, so we are good with the commutes! |
