FCV parents - has anyone heard anything?

Seriously, what is taking so long for FCV to announce that it is entering GAL? Putting it off just makes things worse. Make a plan already!!

There is probably drama about the GAL mid-Atlantic conference membership across the board. So no one can officially announce. For example, if the girls are going to play high school, that makes it harder for VA and MD teams to be in a conference together.

Nada.....

Everyone will know when it's decided.

Just keep watching BP's twitter account. That's how we learn most things at our club.

FCV 03's should stick with FCV GAL . Most are committed, need only one more season for showcases etc for those that arent. 04 and younger - RUN as fast as you can to another team.

Why would 04’s run?

GAL has never hosted a showcase and most 04s are going to be juniors. Have to be seen to get recruited.

The clubs that would form the GAL did not just form yesterday. What a dumb argument.

The same clubs that have furloughed employees will be paying for the showcases?

ECNL clubs are immune?

My Daughter plays for FCV! Stop being defensive, these are questions we should be asking.

It isn’t defensive. All clubs are living in the same pending economic crisis. Do you believe the ECNL clubs do not pay into their showcases?

Do you think this is a safe time to start a business?

I don’t think it is a safe time for many businesses new or established. But if you think ECNL is to big to fail US Soccer should serve as a cautionary tale.

Soccer clubs don’t make money off of their ECNL teams. They make money from the B, C, D and rec programs.

ECNL needs the income for their BIG showcases. If the fall season is practically non-existent how many clubs survive the loss of this spring and the coming fall season? Can ECNL survive if they end up canceling two seasons worth of showcases? And if they aren’t cancelled how big a hit will their attendance take as various parts of the country are all in different stages of opening up?

How many people are really plopping down $200-$500 deposits on ECNL or travel soccer not knowing their own future employment prospects as this carries on? How many people are investing $500 on a deposit for the high probably of zoom practices?

ECNL is expensive and top heavy cost wise yet the rec teams and the lower level local travel teams make the money. If a clubs finances change because of the clientele fiscal realities change do you think a club survives by catering to high end soccer that never paid for itself?

Who mentioned ECNL, stop focusing on ECNL, the discussion is GAL.

Because both are going to be affected by similar outside forces.

Regardless of league next year is a disaster for 03 and 04’s. Recruiting is going to be done heavily through film and club coaches.

Of Course GAL has not hosted a showcase. What a stupid comment. Anyway... the TEAM - the 03 TEAM should attend showcases (not host you dummy). They are at the correct / final recruiting stage.

IMO if you kid is 04 or older and on a strong team- stay there. GAL may fail, it may succeed. But the if colleges have seen your team, they are not going to forget about them b/c the DA is dead. Who knows what showcases will exist next year, but if the schools still have programs, they are still going to recruit. For younger kids, there may be more risk - but they have time.

I agreed 100% with this. These 04s have a lot of coaches interested. These coaches want to keep watching them play. They will go to the GA showcases, should there be any 2020-2021.

The reality is you should plan on a very abbreviated Fall season. If the fall is abbreviated or nearly nonexistent that is a disaster for southern ECNL clubs who have to accommodate a spring HS season.

So with a very unclear fall season looming, jumping ship from a club to a ECNL may simply not work out as hoped. New team, new coach and a possible limited season is not a great recipe for any rising Junior or senior.

That’s correct, new team, new coach, only 3 days of subpar training vs. 4 days DA style training.
