I think that is how it ended up with the Giudices. There wasn’t any real equity in anything. It was all a show. |
It seems she still has some friends in high places:

The Real Deal has good coverage of this whole thing. Here’s another one: https://therealdeal.com/new-york/2024/08/28/developer-brandon-miller-died-with-34-million-in-personal-debt/ He had $34mm in debt and only 8k in his bank account 😳 |

It’s just incredible how people can spend so much money and have nothing to show for it. This woman’s $800 weekly facials and wildly expensive fitness routine make her look and feel nice, sure. But where is the investment for your family’s future? Why not buy some non-luxury rental properties to get some steady passive income? The money was spent on living large but there’s nothing material to show for it. |
The classic cars are financed, too. He didn't outright own them. So,I'm guessing at this point the repo man has already showed up. |
Loans on it were 11.5m. Still plenty to work with for most people. |
I seriously can't fathom how you hold things together for the kids with no money after their father's suicide. |
And yet she will be fine. They lived like billionaires for years, a life of total luxury, and she will be 100% fine, remarry a rich guy. There is NO justice in this world. Honest women work all day, every day and will never know many of the pleasures and leisure she experienced. |
This is very tragic. Was she just unable to fathom a regular old life?
My husband makes good money, just under seven figures. We have a few splurges - a second home, a yearly trip to Disney World, a couple of trips to NYC to see Broadway shows each year, I get monthly massages at one of those chains, we have bi-weekly house cleaners. But I drive a 7 year old, $30k car. Our kids go to public school. My iPhone is 3 years old and I'll keep it until it dies. I don't do manicures or pedicures or dye my hair. I stay at home so there are no nannies . . . nannies are just for when you have two working parents. I enjoy my life a lot, but I have no aspirations to live like I'm on Real Housewives. Clearly we are lot wealthier than this family, who was just . . . pretending. But why? You can be happier in a smaller home, public schools, clothes from the regular old mall, etc. The important stuff is the people you love and your health. Everything else is just an expensive hobby. Could they not see the obvious path to just live like the rest of us? That said, all of that judgment is moot now. She's paid the ultimate price, and she will have to figure this out for her kids. I wish her the best. |
I wouldn't trade my "regular" life with my husband and two adult kids for any part of that lifestyle. It sounds like pure HE ...LL to me to go to bed every night knowing that you were so far in debt, that your financial life was a sham, and that you were taking advantage of other people and their money. |
+ 1 million |
Just because she listed the house at $15mm doesn’t mean she’ll get it. Plus all his other debts, plus attorney fees, plus regular life expenses … she’s broke. She’s living on the charity of others. |
A lot of people live like this, and it boggles my brain. I know social media is a big problem, but it's not the only thing to blame - people can still make their own choices. And people have been trying to pretend to "keep up with the Joneses" since before the internet. The priorities of people are just so backwards. I drive a modest 8 year old car, but I own fully. I fly economy, but I own my home outright. Name brands and expensive jewelry or watches? I'd rather have some good, supportive but cute sneakers. A $50/month gym membership and the outdoors are fine for keeping fit. I do not understand why people feel the need to impress and accumulate without anything of substance to show for their life and livelihood. |
+1 Whether the way they were raised or totally by choice, their basic values are very messed up. |
