BOE - who are people voting for?

Exact same line of thinking for me too. And I was looking for any excuse to oust all incumbents, but I was a definite NO on Mandel, and I've never cared for Stewart's SJW posturing/activism and am not looking for that on the school board.

And this is why Evans has been on the Board for what seems forever. Disappointing more qualified people did not run in D4. Where are you folks?

Me too, except I crossed out Evans (failed incumbent) and Mandel (RWNJ), leaving Stewart as my top pick which is what the Apple Ballot said to do anyway.

I was thinking along the same lines. Evans just means more of the same and Mandel is bonkers so that leaves Stewart.

Stewart is quiet. Does she already think she won?

Why is Mandel "bonkers?" Her issues seem sane to me. Perhaps she's homeschooling b/c she's not happy with what she sees?

Do you live in Montgomery county, home of the largest public school system in state of MD? You wouldn't ask such questions if you live in the county.

At least on this thread, it seems the biggest crackpots are those who are anti-Mandel. I have nothing against debating a candidate's worthiness, but people have said she's not fit to be a human or a mother. That's just vicious.

I'm voting for Stewart. The others are either crazy or just done nothing helpful.

+1. Stewart has a long record of advocacy and you can read or view her many public comments to the board on Board Docs. She's far from the caricature some posters here are tying to portray.

All politics aside. She is not qualified to be on the public school board of education since she doesn’t have kids in the school system and hasn’t had kids in the school system.
Maybe if she made some kind of a commitment to put her kids in to the public schools, she would be worth considering, and then you could take her politics into consideration, which would still be a no for me. But, at least she would have standing ground. I think she’s in this for some kind of publicity.

Laura Stewart is social justice warrior and I also don’t want to see that in the school system. Where are the sane and qualified candidates?

And Evans is a failed incumbent who has done nothing helpful other than oversee the decline of MCPS so the lesser of these evils is Stewart.

Are you pretending she doesn't want to keep males playing girls' sports?
