Exact same line of thinking for me too. And I was looking for any excuse to oust all incumbents, but I was a definite NO on Mandel, and I've never cared for Stewart's SJW posturing/activism and am not looking for that on the school board.

I'm voting for Stewart. The others are either crazy or just done nothing helpful.

+1. Stewart has a long record of advocacy and you can read or view her many public comments to the board on Board Docs. She's far from the caricature some posters here are tying to portray.
Advocacy for insane far-left policies.

No that would be Mandel and Diaz advocating for Moms4Liberty

Keep your rw garbage out of our schools. Public school for a reason. Learn Civics and the Consitution.

Apple Ballot is out.

The @mceanea interviewed 12 of the 14 candidates for the @mcps_md Board of Education (1 didn’t respond and the other didn’t want the endorsement). Here’s who they decided would be best to lead the school system:
At Large Rita Montoya
District 2 Natalie Zimmerman
District 4 Laura M. Stewart
U.S. Senate David Trone
U.S. House District 6 Joe Vogel
U.S. House District 8 Jamie Raskin

They seem moderate to me.

Can you start a new thread for Apple Ballot? Want to know more about some of the candidates without having to scroll and skip over all these posts that discusses just a few "extreme" candidates.

Only people against the apple ballot are idiots for people like Mandel. Reesman and smelkinson liked the way mandel made them feel during their endless quest for career advancement under the name of the pandemic and school closings. For once, dawn doesn’t seem to agree. Shocking.

Like buildings having well-maintained and functional HVAC systems, and releasing school data in downloadable spreadsheets rather than pdfs. Oh the far left insanity!

I really don’t know anyone who thinks the athletic teams that trans kids play on is the number 1 issue facing MCPS.

And this is why Evans has been on the Board for what seems forever. Disappointing more qualified people did not run in D4. Where are you folks?

Afraid.

The moms4liberty crowd is awful they are attacking people like crazy online.

At least on this thread, it seems the biggest crackpots are those who are anti-Mandel. I have nothing against debating a candidate's worthiness, but people have said she's not fit to be a human or a mother. That's just vicious.

All politics aside. She is not qualified to be on the public school board of education since she doesn’t have kids in the school system and hasn’t had kids in the school system.
Maybe if she made some kind of a commitment to put her kids in to the public schools, she would be worth considering, and then you could take her politics into consideration, which would still be a no for me. But, at least she would have standing ground. I think she’s in this for some kind of publicity.

That's a fair criticism of Mandel. Thanks for being reasonable about it and not just calling people names like other posters are doing.

Marijuana lobbyist
?
Social justice warrior
decent candidate who I would consider
?
Jamie Raskin, who was a standup man.

Except for Jamie Raskin, I will use this as a guide for candidates not to vote for in fact, I had already crossed out several of these names.

The Apple ballot nailed it again! I'm definitely voting for
At Large Rita Montoya
District 2 Natalie Zimmerman
District 4 Laura M. Stewart
U.S. Senate David Trone
U.S. House District 6 Joe Vogel
U.S. House District 8 Jamie Raskin

It's hilarious that Evans is trying to paint Stewart as far left. Aside from the hyperbole about Stewart's stances on issues, there isn't one of these that has come before the board where Evans hasn't VOTED that way as an incumbent BOE member. But she keeps her mouth shut so that her base doesn't get as weirded out. Of course, that means letting MCPS uppper admin lead her by the nose. She is so scared.
