A lot of forced birthers and maga_s have claimed that it’s the Democrats who use violence and intimidation when they don’t get their own way; it would be nice if they kept track of current events (real ones, not Biden on his bicycle) and maybe took a minute to understand the extent to which violence is part of the GOP’s fascism.

I hope so. It is terrifying.

Shaye's adoration for her mom and grandmother is the best part of this whole hearing. I love how much she loves, admires, and looks up to them.

And he has been devastating.

Woah, the RNC was directly involved

I missed that - when/how?

I’m not watching (I can’t hear over the kids) but I think this:

Even if everything falls down, I will never forget how these women stood up.

The FBI needs to clean house. From Comey’s leak about Mrs. Clinton (but not about the investigations, plural, into Trump’s crimes) to preempt the hard right wing element in the NY field office to the FBI flat out ignoring the gymnasts reporting Larry Nasser’s sexual assaults, something is very, very wrong in that place.

But some people held signs up outside kavanaugh’s house!

Was talking to a friend who worried that we were becoming like Argentina in the 1970s when the right wing terrified the populace about the alleged evils of the left---unchecked, it became the right wing who started making dissenters "disappear". These hearings are demonstrating that there are an awful lot of GOPers with that exact mindset. And I hate left-wing authoritarianism just as much. We need robust political parties who will negotiate and compromise with each other---not a zero-sum rush to authoritarianism by trying to subvert election results. I was so proud of this country during Bush v. Gore, when we decided as a country to have the process sorted and to abide by the results. What Trump did was incredibly destructive to our 200+ years of peacefully transferring power. He needs to be held accountable.

Omfg. There is no both sides and that travesty of a decision led directly to 1/6. You are literally both sidesing on a thread talking about how one entire political party has tried to do an end run around democracy and overthrow the government and you’re both sidesing? Unreal.

The democrats will be swept from power in the midterms and nothing will come from these hearings

You hope. Over 60% of Americans think trump should be held accountable and we vote. Don't count your chickens before they hatch. By election day how many more mass shootings and children murdered and all these deaths can be laid at the feet of the GOP. The new gun bill is pablum, if it passes.

Voters care more about $6 a gallon gad

It’s heartbreaking to hear she blames herself. MAGA supporters you should hang your heads in shame.

I wonder if these MAGA people can be sued for harassment.

And that’s why the oil corporations are price gouging and the GOP blocked legislation to solve at least part of that. Thanks for confirming it’s bullsnit to try and obscure the GOP’s fascism and sedition.

Rusty Bowers (Rep) Arizona House Speaker said there were multiple Republicans and counsel during calls with Giuliani, Ellis, Eastman.

It all went down like this.
Bowers to Giuliani: You’re asking me to go against my constitutional oath? Do you have sufficient evidence or proof? Do you have names?
Giuliani passes the question to Jenna Ellis (Trump’s legal team): Ellis confirms there is evidence.
Bowers to Ellis: Do you have evidence and names with you now to present to us?
Ellis to Bowers: No
Giuliani interjects: We have theories to substantiate evidence of fraud.
Bowers to Giuliani: And you want me to violate my oath without proof?
Giuliani to Bowers: What I’m suggesting is that Arizona law allows you to go into session to take care of it.
Bowers to Giuliani: I cannot legally do that. I cannot unilaterally call a session solely on my prerogative.
Late December 2021 Trump calls Bowers a 2nd time
Bowers to Trump: I supported you. I voted for you. But I will not do anything illegal for you.
John Easton calls Bowers a few days later suggesting they take a vote to decertify the electors because Bowser had justification and plenary authority to do so according to Article II, Section I, Clause II.
Bowers to Easton: Again, I took an oath and that would be counter to my oath. What would you have me do?
Easton to Bowers: The authority of the legislature is plenary. You can do it. Let the court sort it out.
Bowers explains to the committee that he can’t call the legislature into session without a 2/3 majority vote. We’re only a 30+1 vote. There’s no way that can happen.
Bowers to Easton: You’re asking me to do something that has never been done in the history of the United States, and I’m going to put my state through that without sufficient proof? To the state that I swore to uphold the constitution and law? No sir, I will not do that.

Previously undisclosed video: On January 6th, QAnon Shaman, Jacob Chansley, led protesters
to the Arizona House of Representatives and illegally entered the building. Proud Boys entered the building while armed men remained outside the entrance (unclear if they were PB or armed security). They called for Speaker Bowers by name. Chansley has been sentenced to 41 months in prison for obstruction of an official proceeding.
